LADIES

Monaghan u14 Div 3 Final Corduff V Seans:

A very wet Drumhowan was the venue for the U14 Div 3 League Final between Corduff and Seans. Despite the poor conditions this was a very competitive match throughout. Corduff set the pace by opening the scoring with a point from the throw-in and both sides traded scores with Corduff going in with a 2 point advantage at the interval on 1-05 to 1-03.

A big second half performance would be needed by both teams in what were far from ideal conditions. Seans opened stronger by dominating the exchanges with both sides going level on 1-06 with 10 minutes left. In what was a very exciting finish both sides enjoyed spells of possession with Seans finishing stronger securing a narrow 1 point victory by the final whistle.

Disappointment is a bitter pill but these girls can hold their heads high after playing terrific football to the final whistle in such terrible conditions. Thanks to the managers Declan Kernan and Dermot Hand on their commitment during the season and guiding the girls to the final. The team was as follows Ciara Farrelly, Abbie McGivney, Shannon Duffy Dunne, Katie Walsh, Georgia Smyth, Emily Hegarty, Abbie Finegan, Elena McEnaney, Kerrie Anne Walsh, Annie Brennan, Erica Smyth, Kayla Hand and Fiona Corrigan. Subs were Rheanne McGarrell, Amy Corrigan and Ellen Connolly. Subs used were Rheanne and Ellen. Thanks also to all the supporters who made the trip to Drumhowan to support the girls.
