Drumhowan Club Notes

July 24th, 2016

Eurotech JFL –   in the final round of the Junior league before the split Drumhowan take on league toppers Blackhill this Sunday 24th July at home in Pairc Mhic Eoin  with a 2pm throw in. A win is a must to keep any slim chance of getting into the top 6. However they will also be relying on other games for this to happen. Come out and support the team in this crucial game. Blackhill will also provide the opposition in the next round of the championship which will take place on the weekend of Sunday 14th of August.

Platinum Tanks RFL Division 2 – The reserve team finished their campaign with a walkover against Rockcorry who couldn’t field last Saturday  the 16th of July.  Thanks to the management team of Seamus Duffy, Dermott Mc Dermott, Martin Mc Elroy and the panel of players who fulfilled all their games  in the campaign and if some of the close games had have went their way would have been looking at a semi final place. Thanks also to Mary Duffy who helped out with 1st aid throughout.

Maguire International MFC Division 1 Quarter Final – St Patrick’s took on near neighbours Aughnamullen last Tuesday the 19th of July in the quarter final of the championship. Please check social media for a result

Gerry’s Prepared Veg U16 Division 1  – last Thursday the 14th of July St. Patrick’s U16 team took on Scotstown in the championship quarter final at home in Drumhowan. In what was a very exciting game Scotstown lead throughout before a St. Patrick’s goal near the end. Despite over 6 minutes of injury time  Scotstown couldn’t get the score they needed to bring it to extra time and St. Patrick’s due to their hard work and never say die spirit marched on  to a semi final  with the undefeated team of the year Aughnamullen. The full time score from Drumhowan was St. Patrick’s 1-13 Scotstown 1-12  This game is down for decision  next Thursday the 28th of July in Aughnamullen at 7.30.  Before that this Thursday 21st July  the u16s are away to Inniskeen at 7.30pm in Rd 1 of the U16 Division 1 Shield.

Gerry’s Prepared Veg U14 Division 3 –  the next game for the u14s is not scheduled till Saturday the 30th of July with a game in Páirc Mhic Eoin against Patrick Emmett’s . A win will guarantee a  cup semi-final  with one game left in the league.

Gerry’s Prepared Veg U14 Championship Finals – last Saturday the 16th of July Drumhowan played host to 3 U14 championship  finals. Thanks to everyone who helped out on the day whether in the shop, serving tea or stewarding. It was all greatly appreciated. In the first game our own Patrick Duffy took charge of the Division 5 final between the B teams of the Harps and Donaghmoyne. Then in the Division 3 final between Cremartin and Aughnamullen there was perhaps an unique situation with the 3 game officials  all from the Drumhowan club. Josh Sherry was the man in the middle while the 2 linesmen were David Hurson and Patrick Duffy. The club is deeply thankful to the 3 lads who referee on behalf of the club.
