Reserves: We were edged out away to Truagh in the RFC O’Duffy Cup semi-finals last Saturday. Shane Coyle opened the scoring for us, but Truagh went on to lead by 0-6 to 0-3 at half-time. We started the second half strongly, with points from Éimhín Morahan, Liam Hahessy, Dean Fanning and Francis Lynch, but despite going two up at one stage, we were pegged back again. Remy McKenna brought us level at 0-11 each, only for Truagh to kick the game’s last two points.

Team and scorers: Darragh Hannon; Aidan Connell, Aodhán Óg McAnespie, Mustafa Gamal; Carl Foentjies, Robbie Moyna, Niall Treanor; Éimhín Morahan (Capt., 0-1), Shane Coyle (0-1); Niall Greenan, Liam Hahessy (0-4f), Francis Lynch (0-1); Remy McKenna (0-1), Paddy Connolly, Dean Fanning (0-3f).

Subs: Evan Doherty for Connolly, Paddy Connolly for Greenan.

We are at home to Truagh in Division 1A this Sunday and away to Clones in Division Three next Wednesday.

U-14: Our Under-14 teams had another busy week, starting with a Division Five championship quarter-final away to Latton last Tuesday. Daragh Croarkin, Kevin Moran, Shay Cooney, Adam McGarry, Mike Bradley and Jake Power were all on target in the first half as we raced into a healthy lead. Latton rallied in the second half, but scores by Jamie Coyle, Adam McBride, Kevin Moran and Brian McAteer and some determined defending helped us secure a 4-13 to 6-2 victory.

Team and scorers: Ben Myers; Cathal Nally, James Curley; Mark McManus, Daragh Croarkin (0-2); Kevin Moran (0-1), Brian McAteer (Capt., 0-1); Shay Cooney (1-2, 0-1f), Adam McGarry (1-3); Mike Bradley (0-2), Jake Power (0-1).

Subs used: Jamie Coyle (2-0, 1-0f), Adam McBride (0-1f), Dáire Sheridan.

Both teams had league games at home to Latton on Saturday, the first of which was in Division One. We started slowly, allowing Latton to make the better start, but goals by Josh Maguire, Dean Doherty and Nathan Lavery and points from Terence McDonald and Dean saw us make a great finish to the first half and claim a 3-4 to 1-4 lead. Points from Josh and Dean and goals by Terence and Adam McGarry kept us ahead in the second half and although Latton rallied, our lads worked hard all over the pitch to hold onto their lead. Points from Terence and Kevin Moran were enough to seal a 5-9 to 3-13 win.

Team and scorers: Daragh Croarkin; Cathal Nally, James McKenny; Kevin Moran (0-1), Tiarnán O’Rourke, Liam Conway; Dylan Ballantine (Capt.), Brian McAteer; Josh Maguire (1-1), Dean Doherty (1-2, 0-1f), Terence McDonald (1-4, 0-1f); Nathan Lavery (1-0), Shay Cooney.

Subs used: Adam McGarry (1-1, 0-1f), Jake Power.

Our Division Five team followed that up with a convincing win. We got off to a strong start, with Jamie Coyle, Mike Bradley, Daragh Croarkin, Adam McBride, Jake Power and Adam McGarry all getting on the scoresheet in the first half, while Cathal Nally and James Curley once again impressed at the other end. Brian McAteer, Shay Cooney, Ben Myers, Mike, Jamie and Daragh added second-half scores as our lads finished the group stage of the league with a fourth win from six games.

Team and scorers: Ben Myers (0-1); Cathal Nally (Capt.), James Curley; Kevin Moran, Mark McManus; Daragh Croarkin (0-4), Mike Bradley (0-5, 1f); Jake Power (1-2, 0-1f), Adam McGarry (0-1); Jamie Coyle (4-1), Adam McBride (1-1).

Subs used: Dean Conlon, Conor Treanor, Brian McAteer (2-0), Shay Cooney (0-1).

U-14s: We play Truagh in the League Shield Final with the venue and time yet to be confirmed. Keep an eye on the Monaghan Harps Hurling Facebook page for updates.

Monaghan U-17 Squad: Derry had the better of last Saturday’s proceedings in Garvaghey in the Celtic Challenge play-offs as they came from behind at half-time to win on a 2-15 to 3-4 scoreline. It was a game with some irregularities, with the referee having Monaghan down as being five points up at the halfway stage, with many of those spectating having them seven points ahead. Strangely, only 25 minutes were played in each half, but this doesn’t detract from Derry’s stylish second-half performance in which they seized the initiative and finished as deserved winners. Monaghan have another match this weekend with the details yet to be confirmed. Keep an eye on the Monaghan Harps Hurling Facebook page for updates.

Senior: Next up for the senior squad is a home match against Craobh Rua this evening (Thursday) at 8pm.
