The Monaghan U14 Hurling Development Squad in its first year back together after they had amalgamated with Cavan and Fermanagh for the previous two years, took to the field last Saturday in an Inter-County Blitz in Inniskeen. In the blitz the played three games against Longford, Louth and South Ulster. This year the team is under the guidance of Aidan Morgan and selectors Derek Maguire and Lorcan Murphy.  In there opening game against Longford, Monaghan ran out comfortable winners on a scoreline of 4-8 to 1-0.  In our second match against a strong and physical Louth team our lads give it everything for the 40 minutes only to loose 4-6 to 1-7. Our final game against south Ulster we came up short also on a scoreline of 0-7 to 3-4.  On the day, Monaghan had some excellent performances from Shane Slevin, Darragh Murray, Conal McHugh, Thomas Keenan and Caleb McArdle to name but a few.  The management team were extremely happy with the teams performance’s on the day.   There had been a number of trials this previous three Sunday’s so for a virtually new team the blitz couldn’t have went any better when you also take into consideration the team was missing a number of players as well.
