U12’s
The U12’s travelled to Clontibret on Friday evening for their second Spring League game of the year. Despite the day long rain the boys made light of the conditions and played some very good football.
In the first game Killanny got off to a flier with Cian Burns finding the range early on, however Clontibret there after took control of the game and but for some good defending from Mathew Mathers, Chritopher Tobin and John Gartlan Killanny would have been further behind at half time then two points. After the break Killanny had a purple patch with Tomas Gartlan Conor Burns and Conall Marry all getting on the score sheet. Killian McConnon and Cillian McGahan both worked their socks off in the middle third of the field while Ciaran Finnegan and Iarla Gartlan tried hard up front. John Kelly was secure between the posts in his first outing in this position.  In the final minute of the game Clontinbret conjured up an equailiser and so it ended honour’s even.
In the second game Killanny took control  from the start, Daniel Kelly and Niall Quinn held a vital edge at midfield. In attack Killanny had good performances from Dara Finnegan, Mark Carolan and Sean Duffy. In the second half Clontibret came more into the game and but some for superb defending from Tomas Quinn, Ronan O’Reilly and Daniel Breen they could well have got something out of the game. In the end Killanny however held on to win by a single point.
Well done to all on what was a great effort.
