Seniors

Training schedule for the coming week,

Friday night toals@8pm

Sunday seen the Senior team out for the first home game of the season and get our first league win against our near Neighbours Scotstown. In a game that was end to end it was our younger players that stepped up to the plate with Dermott Gleeson and Micky Tierney in the thick of it from the off. Other great performances came from Stephen Kerr who got a couple of scores and Connor Toal who looked after the defence very well to give us the much need 2 points and hopefully a bit of momentum for the next game.

Final Score Eire og 1-20 Scotstown 2-14

Next up for the Seniors is a tough away game to Drumhowan this Saturday 23rd @7pm and as always all support Is much appricated.

Junior b’s

Our reserves kept their 100% record intact with a brilliant win against Truagh in Smithboro last Wednesday evening. In perfect conditions the away side were first on the score board but our own lads were quick to respond with a brilliant turnover by Calvin Carlisle who worked well with Donal Tierney for a fantastic point to get the ball rolling. While our forwards kept the score board taking over a special mention goes to our defenders to keep the head under pressure and in Shane Monaghan’s case have a sit down and still win the high ball!!

Final score Eire og 1-12, Truagh 1-06

Team line out and scorers

Paul hand, Enda Doran, Connor Toal, Shane Monaghan ,Cory McAree, Marc McBride(0-1), Calvin Carlisle(0-1), Francie McMahon, Alan Mc Gorman, Sean Flynn(1-2), Pauric Mc Kenna, Fergie Sheridan(0-1), Adrian Flynn, Paddy Croarkin(0-7,4 f’s), Donal Tierney.

Our next Match is away to Clones on Wednesday 20th @7.15pm

Juvenile’s

U16’s

Our u16’s under the eyes of Eddie Johnston and Joe Leonard got their campaign up and running last Thursday with what could be the best comeback for many a year! A strong Rockcorry side dominated the first half and went into the break 10 points the better but when both sets of team re-emerged for the 2nd half our lads hit the ground running, with Cian McAree and Cian Toal playing out of their socks .As the game came near to the end and Eire og still trailing up popped the super sub Caoghlan Gavin who wasn’t content on scoring the winning goal and grabbed another with a minute to spare leaving us with a 6 point win at the final whistle..

Final score Eire og 7-7 Rockcorry 3-13

U12’s,

Training this Thursday at 5.30pm.

Our U12’s were away to Rockcorry on Saturday .Unfortunately the away team proved too strong for us in the first half and were ahead by 8 points at half time. Despite this they fought back well in the 2nd half with fantastic performances by lilly Monaghan and Liam Hamill and the introduction of Ciaran Mullaney but it just wasn’t enough and we lost by 5 points in the end.

U14’s,

Training continues every Tuesday at 6.30 in the main field.

Game away to 3mile house this coming Saturday @2pm, all players are asked to meet at the field no later than 1.15pm

Training continues for all children ages 5 to 10 on Sunday morning from 11.30am to 12.30am on the main field.

Scoil Mhuire, Magherarney 50th Birthday Celebrations

Scoil Mhuire Magherarney is celebrating 50 years on its current site as a primary school serving the area of Smithborough and Magherarney. The Board of Management and the school’s Parents Association are currently planning a small event which will be held on

Saturday May 28th at 3pmto mark this special moment in time. We are planning to hold the event in late May. As part of the event we would like to have a display in the school of old roll books etc. but also photographs. Therefore we are putting out an appeal to the community if anyone has any photographs from the school over the past 50 years we would love to get a copy. We would ask that they be left into the school with the school secretary whereupon they will be scanned and the original returned to the owner or scanned and emailed to the school at info@magherarneyns.com So get searching those cupboards and spread the word to any past pupils as the more photographs we have the more memories that will be evoked for everyone.

Darkness into light

This year’s darkness into light will be held on 7th of May @ 4.15am in Monaghan Harps GAA grounds .Registration for the event will take place this coming Thursday the 21st in the Creighton Hotel Clones between 7 and 9pm.Hopefully we can get as many club members young and old to participate in what is a fantastic event for a brilliant cause.
