Seniors.
Our seniors played Donaghmoyne in Scotshouse in the Monaghan Electrical Intermediate Football League on Saturday. The high flying south Monaghan team, who had come down from senior, came out on top in a tight encounter that was only decided in the final ten minutes. We started well and were three in front after twenty minutes when the visitors registered their first score which unfortunately was a goal to level the game. In an evenly contested remainder to the half we trailed by the minimum at the break, 1-4 to 0-6. Donaghamoyne established a three point lead by the end of the third quarter and despite sterling performances at the back from Paddy Mc Dermott, Ben Clerkin and Dara Brady, Currin could not close the gap. With ten minutes to go there was still only three in it but then we were caught with a couple of ‘sucker’ blows in the closing minutes to leave a somewhat flattering score in favour of the visitors. Final score, Donaghmoyne, 2-12, Currin 0-10. Team and scorers, Fergal Connolly, Colm Mc Caffrey, Sean Brady, Dara Brady, Ronan King, Paddy Mc Dermott, Ben Clerkin, Jason Mc Kiernan, Eoin Morrow,0-1, Niall Mc Entee, Ciaran Mc Caffrey, 0-1, Cian North, Enda Mc Caffrey, 0-1, Dick Clerkin, 0-6. Stephen Smyth, 0-1. Subs, Dylan Greenan for Ronan King, Damien Connolly, Conor Beattie, Mark Murphy, Michael Quigley, Patrick Poynton, Hughie Reilly. Our next game will be on Wednesday 4th May away to Cremartin.

Under 16’s,
Patrick Emmetts picked up their first win of the season with a well deserved win over Eire Og last Thursday evening at Scotshouse. Their next outing is a trip to Rockcorry on Thursday 5th May with a throw in time of 7:30pm. All support appreciated.
Under 14’s,
Patrick Emmetts suffered their first defeat of the season when they came up against a much stronger Aughnamullen side in Aughnamullen on Saturday last. It doesn’t get any easier with the next game against a strongly performing Drumhowan side in Aghabog on Saturday 7th May at 12 noon. Again all support appreciated.
Well done to all of the young people from Currin GFC who participated in the club commemoration night to mark the centenary of the 1916 Rising. Songs, music and readings were performed to an exceptionally high standard by all concerned.

Currin GFC would like to thank Kate Rudden, and her Mum and Dad, for sponsoring a big bag of new footballs for the juvenile players from her recent Currin Lotto win.
‘1916’ Commemoration.
Congratulations to all who contributed to and attended our evening of ‘1916’ commemoration in the Community Centre on last Saturday 23rd April 2016. It was indeed appropriate to mark the occasion and significant that we did so exactly one hundred years, to the day, after the Easter Rising of 1916. A special thanks to our Cultural Officer Marie North who worked very hard to organise the night.
