‘1916’ Commemoration.

The 23rd April 1916 is significant because on that day, the eve of the Easter rising, the course of Irish history was changed, ‘changed utterly’, forever. So it is fitting that this year, 2016, on Saturday April 23rd, Currin GFC will commemorate this historic event with an evening of music, discussion, storytelling and song in our local Community Centre in Scotshouse. Our local schools, St Enda’s and St Comghall’s, will team up with local singers and musicians to complement a unique discussion on the distinctive and diverse perspectives that pertained in this locality around the time of the rebellion. Currin’s, Monaghan Minor Footballer of the Year 1985, Dr Eoghan Moore, will lead an ‘All Star’ selection including George Knight, Seamus Mc Quillan and Seamus Mc Caffrey, in this discussion. Subscription will be voluntary with proceeds going to local charities. Refreshments will be served on the night. So keep free Saturday 23rd April.
