Carrick Capture U14 Féile Hurling Final

From the throw-in this was going to be a tough game for both teams. Number 8 for Castleblayney, Mikey Carville, sent a long puck towards the Carrick goals and from this Blayney won a 65. Mikey Carville took the 65 and it was saved by Carrick Goalie, Niall Bermingham but was intercepted by Mikey again and he scored a point. This was the first of a number of fantastic saves taken off by Niall.   The following puckout was caught by Mikey Carville and sent into Thomas Hughes who sent in a ball that was saved by Niall Bermingham and sent back out to midfield. James Slevin sent in a pass to Shane Slevin and this got Carrickmacross their first point of the game.  The Carrick Goalkeeper saved a shot on goal and Carrick won the resulting throw-ball. A puckout  from Niall Bermingham saw Carrick get their second point from James Slevin. Niall Bermingham  pulled off a brilliant save after a chopping incident saw Blayney get a free. The Blayney Goalkeeper, Pauric Bolger, was kept busy and managed to save a serious amount of shots and cleared his line every time. Half time was fast approaching and Mikey Carville scored another point. The half time score saw Blayney ahead by two points.

A stronger second half by Carrickmacross ensued. Thomas Hughes for Blayney scored the first score of the second half with a brilliant point within 1 minute of play. Shane Slevin for Carrick then did a solo run up to the Blayney goals and scored the first goal with a great finish. This got the Carrick team back into the game. Mikey Carville scored a point for Blayney and Shane Slevin followed it with a point for Carrick.  A hand pass from Adam Dowling to James Slevin saw another Carrick goal. Thomas Hughes hit back a point for Blayney. Shane Slevin scored a point from a free. Niall Bermingham saved a one on one shot at goal, and cleared the ball from his goal line. Carrick were on a mission to win and regained possession and scored their third and final goal in the dying minutes of the game. The final score finished Carrickmacross 3-6, Castleblayney 0-7.
