At a function on Monday night the 18th of April  in Croke Park the Independent.ie Rising Stars received their awards from GAA President Aogán Ó Fearghail. Included in the team of 15 were  4 Monaghan Stars  namely  Ryan Wylie, UCD and Ballybay, Kieran Hughes – University Ulster and Scotstown, Daniel  Mc Kenna – DKIT and Truagh and finally Shane Carey – DCU and Scotstown. Alongside Dublin who also received 4 Rising Star Awards  Monaghan topped the list.
