Drumhowan Notes

March 26th, 2016

Eurotech JFL -Drumhowan made a winning start to the new campaign with a three point victory away to Clones last Sunday the 20th of March. Ciaran Deery opened the scoring for 2016 with a 2nd minute point. Clones then scored an unanswered 3 points before Anthony Mulligan playing at centre half back popped up to score a point in the 7th minute. 10minutes later Mark Mc Cabe scored the first free of the day while Drumhowan’s last score of the half was from half back Kevin Mooney to leave the half time score Drumhowan 0-7 Clones 0-4.

While the 1st half was a quiet enough affair the game sprung into life in the first 10 minutes with Ciaran Deery scoring two goals. Clones were also reduced to 13 men after James Mealiff received a straight red card and Fintan Kelly receiving his marching orders on a 2nd card for protesting a little too much after Mealiff’s dismissal. Despite being reduced to 13 Clones kept in touch as Drumhowan found it hard to get used to the 2 man advantage and half through the half the sore was level at 2-6 to 0-12 . With 5 minutes left thanks to points from Ciaran Deery, David Millar and Mark Mc Cabe Drumhowan raced 3 points ahead. Many thought that was it, however Clones had other ideas kicking 2 points to leave only one in it with 2 minutes left. That was as good as it got with Kevin Mooney and Michael Atkinson finishing the scoring off to leave the full time score Drumhowan 2-12 Clones 0-15
