Concussion Awareness Workshops

Over the past number of weeks, Monaghan Coaching & Games have rolled out four Concussion Awareness Workshops.

On Wednesday night, both Emyvale GAA Club and Latton O’Rahilly’s hosted a Concussion Awareness Workshop. Both workshops were open to parents and coaches to attend.

The workshops highlighted the potential dangers of concussion, the signs and symptoms of concussion, the correct procedure in dealing with a suspected concussion, how you manage the condition in children, the gradual return to play protocol and helping players cope with the injury. A number of resources were also given to the parents and coaches on the night.

On Thursday, in Our Lady’s Secondary School Castleblayney, as part of the Transition Year Personal Development Day, all the students completed the Concussion Awareness Module. Earlier in the month, at a recent Club Coaching Officer Meeting all the Coaching Officers in attendance also went through the online Concussion Awareness Workshop.

If you would like this workshop to take place in your club you can contact any member of the Coaching & Games Development Staff and they will be able to point you in the right direction.
