Busy weekend for Monaghan Development Squads

March 1st, 2016

Monaghan Development Squads had their first outing of 2016 with challenege matches against Louth & Meath respectively on Saturday past.

Our U16s travelled to Darver in Louth in what turned out to be a perfect afternoon for football. Overall the management team was very happy with the display of their team, a total of 26 players got game time and all acquited themselves very well. Over the next few months the workload for this group will intensify in preparation for the U16 Buncrana cup competition which takes place on Saturady 30th April. In preparation for this competition this squad will underatake training sessions and challenge matches. If you are a club manager / parent of a player who is involved with the U16s and is concerned about their workload at any time please contact Cathal Hand (Team Manager) on 087 1473373 or Player Welfare Officer Paul O’Connor on 0868374827 to discuss.

Our U17s travelled to Dunganny, Meath’s County Training grounds to take part in their first competitive game of the new year. In another very competitive game , Monaghan acquited themselves very well despite short a number of players. This squad is now looking forward to taking part in a newly structured U17 Jim McGuigan competition which will take place on the same day & venue as our county minors play in the Ulster Minor league. This competition is due to commence in two weeks and they will play against Armagh, Cavan and Down. Again similar to the U16s, if you are a manager/parent involved with this squad and concerned about their workload please contact Paul Curran (Team Manager) on 086 8547522 or Player Welfare Officer Paul O’Connor on 0868374827.

After both games, the two teams made their way to Croke Park for the Monaghan v Dublin National League game. See below photos from the day.
