Patrick Emmet Presentation: On Sunday last players parents mentors & families came together to acknowledge & celebrate the achievements of our amalgamated teams with our neighbours Currin in 2015. Our county stars Ryan Wylie Dick Clerkin & Jack McCarron were on hand to present medals to our Under 14 & Under 16 double winning teams & also our minor panel. Both M.C. John Connolly Currin & our chairperson Damian Murphy highlighted the level of cooperation required to make the amalgamation work & in particular thanked the parents for their support with transport to training & games. The role of the late Aidan Quigley RIP in the arrangement between the clubs was also highlighted. A sumptuous buffet was kindly laid on by our hosts & the Currin Community Centre Committee. Many thanks to the Currin club for a most enjoyable function.

Best Wishes: To Michael Lawson who will perform on The Voice of Ireland this Sunday evening. Everybody in Aghabog is behind you, Michael!

Presentation Night: Our Annual Club Presentation Night will take place Saturday March 5th.

Bard of Oriel: Our club has been given the franchise to relaunch the Bard of Oriel competition which has been in abeyance since 2013. If you or your friends are interested in reciting a poem/ monologue/storytelling, in a competitive but friendly atsmosphere please contact John Connolly at 0864085874. If there is sufficent interest in this competition we intend to hold it in October 2016 with substantial prize money for the winner. Our aim is to re – awaken interest in very noble art of entertainment in Monaghan, which has a huge

following in Armagh. Flyers will be sent out over the next couple of months and if there is a good response we will issue the rules and regulations and dates in due course.

Club Aghabog: All tickets sold and unsold are now due. If you have ticket money or tickets remaining, please return these to a committee member immediately.

Boogie in the Bog: Boogie in the Bog will be held on the week of 10th/11th/12th June 2016.

Registration Night: The Club Registration Night will take place on Friday 26th February in the Clubhouse from 9-10pm. With the playing season almost upon us, it is important that all players, adult and underage players, parents and team mentors are fully compliant with membership of the club. An invoice from Croke Park has confirmed that it will cost 3400 euro to cover all our teams for the coming year, failure to do so will render them ineligible to avail of insurance cover for injuries sustained while training or playing. The rates of cover are as follows: Family Membership €50. Adult players €30. Students €20. Juveniles €10. Club membership €20 and clubhouse social members €10.

Aghabog Emmets Development Draw: We will be launching Aghabog Emmets GFC Development Draw on St Patrick’s Day 17th March 2016. As everybody can see, we have made great strides with our new pitch development at Ned’s Meadow in recent times which looks splendid with it’s lovely carpet of green grass. If we want to get to the next stage and erect goal posts, fencing, ball stopping nets and other such necessities, it will mean that every club member, young and old, will be expected to put their shoulder to the wheel and help out with the Development Draw. Projects like the new pitch do not happen by accident. It has taken years of hard work to get us to this stage and we now need one last push from ALL of our members. The new pitch will provide for future generations of Aghabog players so now is the time to stand up and ask not what your club can do for you, but what YOU can do for your club! Everybody is invited to the launch night on St Patrick’s Day in the Clubhouse.

Sub Committees: Our Chairman intends to set up a number of sub committees in the coming weeks to get more of our members involved in work sharing and give them responsibility for different aspects of our club structures. If you would like to get involved, contact Damien at 086-8194169.

Notes: If anybody has anything to be included in the Aghabog club notes, can they please email pauric.mcphillips@gmail.com or ring 086-1659589.
