Juvenile County Championships. We played 2 of the 3 remaining juvenile finals on Monday evening past, in the U17 Girls final Lauren Treanor(C) took on Niamh Fullen in the all club final, this proved a ding dong battle as both players know it each other very well and it served up an excellent game, Niamh was victorious in both games 15-9, 15-9 but very little separate them as the amount of turn-overs from serve showed, and this proved how much effort was put into the game, well done to both, in the U15 boys final Ryan Boyle traveled to the Harps where he took on a very strong player in Konrad Kowal, but Konrad’s power never fazed Ryan as he chased down every ball in well competed game, even though Konrad came out on top on a score line in both games of 15-6, 15-6, Ryan gave Konrad plenty to contest with, well done to all players involved as the first basic rule in sport is to put in the effort and go for everything, well done all, Shane Mc Kenna’s U17 singles final against Killian Sheery has been re-fixed for Monday evening past (14th), good luck Shane.

Ladies Football
U-14/16/18 Girls
Eventhough the football playing season is now over for all the above teams, we had a number of these players recently show casing their versatility and talent by representing our club in both the recently held juvenile girls handball county finals and also in the Scor Na N-Og Ulster Finals held in Armagh last weekend.

In handball it was commiserations to both Ethna Boyle who lost the U-13 final in a very close contest and also to Tara Mc Meel who lost out narrowly on a tie breaker in the U-14 final. Congratulations goes to Maebh Mc Cluskey who took the U-15 final in a very exciting game while there was mixed emotions in the U-17 final which was an all Truagh affair with Niamh Fullen just edging out her club mate Lauren Treanor in a keenly contested encounter.

Meanwhile it was commiserations to the Truagh Ballad group singers which included club players Meghan Mc Kenna, Clodagh Mc Meel, Meabh Mc Cluskey and Aoife Tierney, who suffered heartbreak in the recently held Scor Na N-Og Ulster Finals. However this group of girls can be very proud of their achievements having won the Scor Na N-Og county title only a few weeks ago and despite the Ulster Finals result these girls represented both their club and county with great distinction last weekend.
