HARPS HANDBALL
The County Juvenile championships commenced on Friday evening and continued in to Saturday. Many thanks to Martin, Conor, Eugene and parents who helped over the week-end.
Congratulations to our first-timers to represent the club in the county championships.
Pride of place goes to newcomers Evan Bradley, Aidan Mc Geough, Aidan Cunningham, Fergal Magee, Adrian Kumpis, Paul Maguire and Sam O’Connor. They all enjoyed their first experience of competitive handball and indeed some came away from the Tydavnet or Mellans venues with victories. It is great to see new players getting a chance to play for the club.
Our Three U12 girls played brilliantly. The youngest was Emily Mc Ginnity and she amassed lots of points in her first ever competition. Juste and Karolina both won all their games and now will meet in the County singles final shortly. Also into the U13 girls final is Louise Mc Ginnity.
In the Tyrone League, Tiarnan O Rourke had a fabulous match against Diarmaid Gallagher (Loughmacrory). Tiarnan had just returned from playing Basketball in Belfast and without a break, went straight to Loughmacrory. The match was a fantastic one, with long rallies and brilliant play from both Tiarmaid and Tiarnan. Tiarnan won the first game after trailing 7-12 and did get off to a 6-1 lead in the second game, but just could not get the better of Diarmaid in the second. A draw was a fair and good result on the night. Well done Tiarnan.
