SENIORS
Sean Guigan give the Senior report,
Our Senior hurlers had a very mixed year in 2015. On paper the results do not make too bad reading, Played 19, won 9, lost 9, drew 1, But paper does not always tell the full story and the facts may make for grim reading, In the 9 that was lost were a development league semi-final, a senior league semi-final, a championship semi-final and a shield final, even losing in every big game these lads still wanted to play hurling with 20 plus turning up for training and games, also we felt it to bring minors into the team and it is hoped that experience gained will stand to them in years to come and bring Carrickmacross back into Monaghan hurling, Sean Guigan & Fergus Payne
MINORS
Sean also give the minors reports
Our minors felt that they could have challenge for both league and championship final this year, having won the championship in 2014 with more then half of the team still eligible this year and plenty of U16 pushing for places, we finished top of the league, unbeaten and play Monaghan Harps in the final which result in a draw, with the Harps winning in the replay, next up was the championship and we meet Monaghan again in the semi-final, with a mix of players who could not play and a few injuries the Harps end up winners on the day, A disappointing year but these young hurlers can look forward to 2016, Sean Guigan, Fergue Payne, Barry Connolly and Dympna McCahey
U16
Barry connolly give the U16
We had a good year where we were close of doing the double, won the championship by beating Castleblayney in Donaghmoyne in a hard fought game on a Thursday, then with a league final the same week on the Sunday where we meet Lisbellaw in Aughmullen, led during the whole match with Lisbellew pulling away at the end with winning by a single point, this team has some outstanding young players and if we can keep these lads together Carrick hurling is on the up, These lads mixed with the U14 had a days outing paintballing and food to finish off a good year, Barry Connolly, Shane McKenna, & Rocky Shannon
U14
Aiden Sleeve give us the U14
This was a great year for Carrick hurling club, our U14 started back in March of this year with some good results in the league, Half way through the season the championship started and we managed to get to the final with Castleblayney in Aughmullen in a very tight match, this was a first championship final for a lot of these players and ended coming out on top, Then we reach the league final with Knockbridge in Inniskeen in another tight match which ended in a draw, replay was fix a week later which the lads start strong and led through the game, Not only did these players win the double but they went the whole season with out losing a game which is a great achievement for these young players, Aiden Slevin & John Slevin
U12
Brian Whelan give the U12
Another good year for the club U12 with taking the Shield cup home last August by beating Truagh in Tyholland, starting of with small numbers and some young players this win give the lads a great lift as it was some of them their first competition medals, Most of these lads are under age again next year with a few moving up will make U12 hurling enjoyable once again next year, Brian Whelan, Derek MaGuire & Gene O Rourke
U6, U8 & U10
Gene o rourke give the u6, u8 u10
Our U8 & U10 had a great year with us starting a U6s with new players coming all the time to join in the fun and learn the skills of hurling , The players travel to all County and club blitz in big numbers, the club held a blitz on the Donaghmoyne pitch last may with visiting club which had over 100 kids all U10 playing at the one time was great to see, We also travel to Edenderry [Offaly] in July for a fun day out with a return visit to Emmet park last October where kids took part in blitz, long puck and penalty shots, A big thanks to all parents that made Sandwiches, buns, came out and help on the day, As our numbers grow so did our coaches, we welcome new coaches Aenat Nic Phaidin & Mel Farrelly, also Carrie Peoples, Lynn Mc Carthy, Derek MaGuire & Gene O Rourke
