Aughnamullen Notes

November 26th, 2015

Seniors:

The Senior team played in the intermediate league final on Sunday last this was the first time the club had played in an Intermediate league final since 1991. Aughnamullen got off to a flying start by scoring the first 5 points of the game the scores coming from Mark Mc Ardle(2), Sean Sheridan, Edmond Mc Ardle and Pete Dooney however Doohamlet started to gain momentum around the middle of the field and scored a quick 1-03 in 5 minutes and half time led by 1 point on a score line of 1-04 to 0-06 with Aughnamullen other score coming from the boot of Mark Mc Ardle. In the second half Doohamlet physical power and experience proved the difference where they rattled of 5 points without reply to establish a 6 point lead before a Mark Mc Ardle point in the 21st minute reduced the lead and both teams scored 1 point each to leave the final score 1-10 to 0-08 in favour of Doohamlet. Congratulations is extended to Doohamlet on their win. However great credit must be given to our team this year they have returned to Intermediate level status in great style and if the team can improve in 2016 they should not be too far away from the latter stages of the league and Championship. On behalf of the club we would like to thank all those associated with the team this year the management team of Seamus Markey and Michael Ward and First Aid person Colin Malone and all the team players this year they have shown a lot of promise this year and have given pride back to the club.
