125 Gala Banquet:

We celebrated our 125 in style in the Hillgrove Hotel on Saturday 24^th October. It was a night that well and truly lived up to its billing and it’s safe to say ‘a good time was had by all’. It was great to see Aghabog faces from near and far join in the celebrations. Presentations and speeches were the order of the day with JP Graham, as usual, doing an excellent job as compere on the night. Our Chairperson, Tony McGorman, got things underway before our long-serving (or perhaps that should read long-suffering) committee member, John Connolly gave a speech that just about summed up everything that is good about the GAA. Noel McCarville took us on a trip down memory lane as he delivered a memorable recitation by Fergal Greenan. Indeed fond memories of great days gone by came flooding back as some of the headlines from the Northern Standard appeared on the big screen while we enjoyed our meal.

Low and behold, we already have a new one for the 150 celebrations – “Aghabog one of the best clubs in Ireland says Paraic Duffy”. That’ll do.

U12s: Congratulations to our under 12 squad who finished off their gaelic season in fine style as they secured the Frank Lynch Memorial Cup in Killeevan last Saturday. Not only did they win every game of the tournament but they were deserving winners in the final too. Thanks to our neighbours Killeevan for the invitation to take part and well done to Patrick, Minor and everyone involved in organising the tournament and the refreshments on finals day.
