Ready, Steady, Coach!

Coaching programme continues this Friday 30th October at 7pm sharp in St. Mellans.

The initiative is aimed at people who have a genuine interest in developing the youth of our parish across all the entire portfolio of sports promoted at St Mellans. ENTRY IS OPEN, WELCOMED AND ENCOURAGED FROM ALL WITHIN THE PARISH TO INCLUDE NEW AND EXISTING COACHES. We are particularly keen to hear from people who heretofore have not been involved or have not been involved in recent times at any rate. Whether your sport is football, hurling, handball, ladies football or Camoige you will benefit from being here. Co. Monaghan Credit Unions SFL:  We defeated Donaghmoyne in the last game of the league on Sunday, final score 2.18 to 0.9. This guarantees a place in the semi finals, opponents to be confirmed. This match is provisionally scheduled to take place on the weekend of the 7th/8th November.  Please check next weeks notes.

 

Commemoration Dinner: Keep free Saturday 21st November when we will honour the 1975 Owen Ward Cup Winning Team and the 1995 Intermediate Championship Winning Team at a Commemoration Dinner in St. Mellans. Tickets on sale from Kevin on 0866030670 or Niall on 0868386971.

 

Club Development Plan: The club have started work on developing a strategic plan for the club that will guide development for the next 5 years.  An important step in this process is the Club Planning Workshop, where we are inviting all club members to attend a facilitated open night on all aspects of club activity. KEEP FREE: Friday 20th November 2015 and come along and have your say on the future development of the club.

 

Cultural Night: will take place on Friday 13th November in St. Mellans.  There will be a family mass in Irish at 7.30pm followed by a cultural display. All welcome.

 

Recent Arrivals: Congratulations to Niall and Anita McCarron on the birth of their daughter and to Francis and Julie McKenna on the birth of their son.

 

AGM: will take place on Friday 4th December 2015.

 

Senior Ladies

Still no update of fixture for the league semi final. Training continues Friday at 8.
U-14/U-16/U/18 Girls
Our minor girls team were defeated by Magheracloone by a single point in their League semi final last weekend in a keenly contested encounter that produced a frantic finish, in a game that was in the balance right up until the very end. Despite this defeat, this group of girls can be very proud of their achievements, producing some brilliant team performances and consistent results throughout the year, which in turn resulted in this team finishing in top spot on the league table at the end of the group stage of this competition. Team on duty in semi final –  Laura Mc Kenna, Shauna Mc Aree (Joint Captain), Emma Mc Aree, Ernesta Laureckyte, Niamh Fullen, Aoibhinn Treanor, Meighan Mc Kenna, Seanna Mohan (Joint Captain), Ellen Deery, Lynda Mc Meel, Lauren Treanor, Clodagh Mc Meel, Morgan Mc Kenna, Leona Mc Kenna, Megan Mc Quaid, Sinead Rafferty.

As the above game concludes the playing season for this year for our U-14, U-16 and U-18 girls teams, the team management, on behalf of all the players concerned would like to thank both ladies club PRO Rachel Mc Kenna and men’s club PRO Darren Feely for all their assistance in ensuring that match reports submitted for all the aforementioned teams were included in our weekly club notes throughout the year.

 

 

Liathroid Laimhe.

Juveniles. All juveniles that have registered so far this season have been broken up into groups for leagues and on going coaching, as others register we will allocate a group or organise another group to suit that age bracket, but you must be registered so that we know you want to play handball, NB maybe due to changing circumstances time slots for these leagues and coaching may change further into the season, any that still have not registered please do so with John Kelly and fill out a full registration form along with the registration fee of 5 Euro”, John can be contacted on 0879278877.

Registration Due. Can all that are going to play handball in the coming season please forward all monies to John Kelly ASAP, Adults 40 Euro, Students 20 Euro, Juveniles 5 Euro and non-playing members 10 Euro, Note the “no-pay no-play” rule will be strictly enforced this year.

Mono League. Anyone interested in playing in the Mono League please get your name forwarded to Kevin ASAP as we hope to get it up and running in the next couple of weeks.

Handball Gear. Martin has got handball gear in stock now, so ask Martin for what ever is required and if he doesn’t have it he will get it in.

Congratulations. Well done to Ryan Treanor who won the Men’s “B” Singles grade in the 60 X 30 Intervaristy handball competition, Ryan was representing DCU, in the final he defeated Martin Meagher from UCD 21-18, 21-14, well done Ryan, John will soon have to start moving his silverware of the mantel piece to make room for the boys!

Boot Camp: Continues in St. Mellans on a Monday and Wednesday evening from 7-8pm, €4 per person. Men and Women welcome.
