Seniors: We qualified for the Greenfield Foods Senior Football Championship Final by seeing off Clontibret in Scotstown last Sunday. Kevin Loughran opened the scoring, but Clontibret hit back with 1-1, before Michael Galligan, Gareth Treanor and Shane Smyth brought us level. A Dónal Hahessy point and 1-1 by Fearghal McMahon had us 1-6 to 1-4 up at half-time and Fearghal, Neil McAdam and Conor Galligan added points in the third quarter. Michael then scored our second goal and further points from Fearghal and Stephen Driver secured a 2-12 to 1-10 win. We are now through to the county final for the first time since 1991, with Scotstown awaiting on Sunday week (October 18). We have a league game away to Clontibret this Sunday.

Team and scorers: Ashley White; Niall Hahessy, David Hughes, Kevin Loughran (0-1); Gareth Treanor (0-1), Conor Galligan (Capt., 0-1), Nicholas Scott; Neil McAdam (0-1f), Stephen Driver (0-1); Nicholas Treanor, Gary White, Michael Galligan (1-1); Dónal Hahessy (0-1f), Shane Smyth (0-1), Fearghal McMahon (1-4, 1-0 pen, 0-3f).

Subs: John Mulligan for G Treanor (inj., 48), Liam Hahessy for G White (59).

Family Fun Day: Our Family Fun Day drew a great crowd to Gavan Duffy Park last Saturday. A very entertaining day featured a fancy dress parade, a variety of races and competitions for all ages, as well as the finals of our U-12 Street Leagues. We then got to the main event, which was the Great Harps Balloon Race, where Hugh Coyle and co. released over 1,000 balloons from the pitch. Anyone who finds a balloon and code is asked to email Pro.monaghanharps.monaghan@gaa.ie (closing date: November 3). Well done to Michael McMorrow for selling the most balloons. A good crowd of coaches and parents also joined us in the clubhouse for an enjoyable evening. Thanks to everyone in the club who supported the day and sold balloons, particularly the juveniles, who got right behind the event. Thanks also to Neil McAdam for making the presentations to the juveniles and for bringing the Anglo-Celt Cup. The day was a testament to all involved, so well done to the organising committee, led by Jimmy Croarkin.

Harps colours: We hope to have club merchandise on sale this weekend in the run-up to the county final. Keep an eye on club website and social media for more details. Hats with the club crest are for sale now at a cost of €8. They are available in the clubhouse, or by contacting Una Forde (087 6107329).

Juveniles: Our Saturday-morning coaching came to a close with last weekend’s fun day. Thanks very much to all the coaches, children and parents involved throughout 2015. Our U-12 Street League also finished up on Saturday with three entertaining finals played, where there wins for Dublin against Kerry, Cork against Tyrone after sudden-death extra-time and Mayo against Donegal. This was a very enjoyable finish to the year for our U-12s. Thanks to Colm and Audri Herron of the Hillgrove Hotel for kindly sponsoring trophies for all players who took part in the Street League and well done to everyone involved. Well done also to the U-8 and U-9 teams who played St. Vincent’s last Saturday morning and thanks to the Dublin club for travelling and to everyone who provided food for our guests. The juvenile year will come to a close with an U-13 blitz next Thursday (October 15) in Cloghan.
