Ready, Steady, Coach!

Are you the man or woman who will train the Gaeil Triucha senior footballers, hurlers, ladies footballers, camoige players or handballers in 5-10 yrs time?

The club are organising a coaching programme to be rolled out for 8-10 weeks beginning on fri Oct 9th.

The initative is aimed at people who have a genuine interest in developing the youth of our parish across all the entire portfolio of sports promoted at St Mellans. ENTRY IS OPEN, WELCOMED AND ENCOURAGED FROM ALL WITHIN THE PARISH TO INCLUDE NEW AND EXISTING COACHES. We are particularly keen to hear from people who heretofore have not been involved or have not been involved in recent times at any rate. Whether your sport is football, hurling, handball, ladies football or camoige you will benefit from being here. Co.Monaghan Credit Unions SFL: Our Next SFL match at home to Clontibret was put back to Sunday 27th Sept at 12:30pm

 

Platinum Tanks RFL Div 1A: The Reserve B Final is due to take place on Friday 2nd Oct at 8pm in Emyvale.

 

Barn Dance : Our Barn Dance was a great success on Saturday past, a great nights craic was had by all, and well done to our winners of the Jiving Competition Eadaoin & Lauren Treanor. A special words of thanks also to the North Monaghan Mens Shed for providing the lovely food. The winners of the draw for the Two All Ireland tickets was Frances Treanor, Derrykinighbeg,Emyvale, Thanks to everyone who entered the draw.

 

All Ireland Final Tickets.  The Club Draw for the All Ireland Football Final tickets took place on Monday night, the winners were as follows. 1. Stephen Mohan 2. Bernard Treanor. Subs Pauric Treanor, Kevin Treanor, Mickey Todd, Ann Mc Kenna, Gerry Mc Elligott, Mark Counihan.

 

 

 

Juveniles

U14s Final Congratulations to our under 14s on their victory over Emyvale on Saturday past finishing on a scoreline of  4-05 to 3-09. Well done to all involved.

 

Fundraiser A 10k /5k Fun Run/ Walk will take place on Sunday 4th Oct in St Mellan’s,Please note change of date, Registration starts at 11am, Run starts 1pm and our Blitz for the Owen Mc Kenna Memorial Cup will now take place on Sunday 27th  September at 3pm with the 4 schools involved

 

Senior Ladies

The senior girls were due to play their final league fixture on Saturday last, however Carrickmacross awarded Truagh the points. The girls now progress on to the league semi final.

The reserve team will play their league final against Donaghmoyne on Wednesday the 23rd of September in Inniskeen, under lights. Please come out and give the girls your support.

 

U-18/U-16/U-14 Girls
Our minor girls team play away to Tyholland this Sunday 20th September at 5pm. All support will be welcome.

Despite a very spirited overall team performance, in abysmal weather conditions, our U-16 girls team unfortunately ended their season with a narrow defeat in their league final last weekend. Team – Laura Mc Kenna, Ciara Treanor, Megan Mc Quaid, Maebh Mc Cluskey, Niamh Fullen (J/Capt), Emma Mc Aree, Ernesta Laureckyte, Meghan Mc Kenna (0-1), Sinead Rafferty (0-2), Morgan Mc Kenna (1-4),  Ellen Deery, Clodagh Mc Meel, Lauren Treanor (J/Capt) (0-3), Aoibhinn Treanor, Megan Markey, Colleen Mc Gee, Aoife Tierney, Katie Murphy, Rachel Mc Elmeel.

Hard luck to our U-14 girls team who despite making a brilliant second half comeback, also ended their season last weekend when they were defeated by 4 points in their championship semi final, in a very exciting game that was in the balance right up until the very end. U12 

U12 play a play off this Saturday at 12pm in St Mellans against Killeven. We also hope to do a sponsored walk around Emy Lake soon, see text message for more details. Training continues every Thursday from 6.30-7.30pm.

 

Scór na bPáistí & Scór na nÓg Dates

The Scór na nÓg Competition (Under 17) will be held on 30th & 31st of October with the County Final on November 7th.

 

Scór na bPáistí (for Primary School children) will be held in Ionad CLG Sheáin Mhic Dhiarmada, Threemilehouse on Saturday October 10th at 7pm.

Competitions in Rince Foirne, Rince Seit, Solo Singing, Ballad Singing,  Recitation, Group Music, Drama and Quiz.

Nursery Training: Continues tonight (Thursday) at 7pm to 8pm.

 

Boot Camp: Continues in St. Mellans on a Monday and Wednesday evening from 7-8pm, €4 per person. Men and women welcome.
