U-6’s

In 2015 the number of children wishing to play juvenile football in Magheracloone led to the opening of our juvenile academy for those in the U6 age bracket. This group of “Mini Mitchells” had great fun learning the basics of football. Many of this year’s group will remain U6 in 2016 and will definitely be a force to be reckoned with!!! The final U6 blitz for the year was held in Magheracloone on Sunday last. In glorious sunshine teams from Magheracloone, Shercock, Bailieboro and Corduff played some highly entertaining football much to the enjoyment of the many family members and friends present. Thank you to Martin Mc Connon who organised the event and to all who helped out on the day. Children from Magheracloone who took part were: Mikey Doogan Burke, Oran Farrelly, Dean Tuite, Oisin Mc Garrell, Leah Finnegan, Jessie Doogan, Ben Freeman, Padraic Gannon, Cian Mc Eneaney, Jacob O’ Loan, Patrick O’Loan, Liam Mc Connon, Cormac Kelly, Cian Kelly, Ciaran Farrelly, Sarah Finnegan, Eimear Clarke, Bobby Mc Cabe & Myles O’Reilly.

Senior Championship

The replay of round 2B of the Championship was played on Friday 11th September in Inniskeen against Latton. Another close encounter right from the start with missed chances from both sides throughout. Once again the sides finished level at the full time whistle Magheracloone 0-10 Latton 0-10. Extra time followed with ten minutes a side played. Once again nothing could separate these two sides. The championship seemed to be slipping away from us when Latton’s Stephen Mc Cabe scored the only point from play in extra time. With a total of eighty eight minutes played and the referee looking at his watch Magheracloone won a 45. This was converted by David Kirk and so we get to do it all again! Final score Magheracloone 0-11 Latton 0-11

Team:

David Kirk (0-1), Paudie Mc Mahon (0-1), Peter Ward (Capt.), James Lambe, Ronan Freeman, Paul Mc Ardle, Peter Tuite, James Ward, Gavin Doogan, Killian Rudden, Thomas Freeman (0-2), Paudie Finnegan (0-2),  Alan Mc Cahey (0-1), Michael Metzger, Allan Kieran (0-3), Jack Kirk, John Mc Mahon, Cian Freeman, Jamie Kieran, Daniel Babington, Noel Tuite, Peter Finnegan, Ronan Burns, Damien Rudden & Michael Jones (injured)

Manager: Donal Murtagh

Selectors: Gerry Finnegan & Dwayne Mc Carey

The replay will be played this Saturday 19th Sept. in Castleblaney at 5pm. We hope to see a big turn out from supporters and hopefully it will be a case of third time lucky for the Mitchells.
