U-6’s & U8’s

It was all smiles in Magheracloone on a glorious sunny Saturday morning as the U6 and U8 children welcomed Shercock and Kingscourt to play some football. Everyone played great and put into practice what their coaches have worked on over the past weeks. The result of these mini matches were, happy faces on healthy positive children. Thank you to all the parents who provided the refreshments and helped serve them to the visiting clubs. We have had great feedback from the parents. We really do have a wonderful club.

Please note that U8 training will be held this week on Thursday at 7pm. This is to allow all families to go and support the U16’s in their final on Wednesday evening in Killanny at 7pm.

U8s will travel to Latton on Saturday morning 5th September for a blitz. Could all players please be there for 9:45am to give coaches time to pick balanced teams.

U-10’s

Training this Thursday 7pm to 8pm. The Latton blitz takes place on Saturday 5th September from 10am to 12 noon. Please be there for 9:45am and don’t forget your gum shield!

U-12’s

In warm playing conditions our U12’s tasted defeat in the division one shield final against a very well organized and talented Monaghan Harps team. Although the first half was an even affair with the Mitchells matching their opponents admirably they still found themselves trailing by three points at half time. In the second half the Harps proved to be formidable opponents. Our young Mitchells dug deep with great determination but it was Monaghan Harps who showed their mettle and crucial goals were enough to secure the win for Harps. Well done to the entire U12 panel and managers Francie Jones, Raymond Farrelly and Gary Byrne for a fantastic effort throughout the year.

Final score Magheracloone 3-9 Monaghan Harps 6-7

Team: Oisin Babington, Rory Mc Mahon, Ben Mc Connon, Dylan Byrne (0-3), James Brennan, Michael Mc Cullagh, Daniel Mc Cahey, Dylan Farrelly (Capt.) U-14’s

The U14 team have secured a place in the Division 2 Cup Semi Final against Donaghmoyne. This will be played in Donaghmoyne on Saturday 5th September at 12 noon. All support would be appreciated.

U-16

A tired looking and unsettled Magheracloone team met Emyvale in the Division Two Championship Final on Thursday evening last. Emyvale were a well drilled side who possessed a few very skilled players, these players took full advantage of the many Magheracloone mistakes resulting in the cup heading north to Emyvale.

Final score Magheracloone 2-12 Emyvale 4-11

Team: Ryan Farrelly, Jack Doogan, Fergal Goodman, Jonathon Donnelly, Conor Mc Keown, Ronan Mc Keown, Barry Kieran, Niall Marron (Capt.), Ryan Mc Nulty, David Martin, Dylan Mc Cahey, Aidan Carolan, Ciaran Mc Mahon, Liam Óg Murray, Daniel Mc Connon, Shane Burns, Dylan Tuite, Gary Marron & Matthew Kieran.

This team have a chance to redeem themselves on Wednesday 2nd September when they play Killanny in the Division Two League Cup Final. The venue will be Inniskeen with a start time of 7pm. It would be great to see a large crowd of supporters to cheer the lads on.

Senior Championship

Inniskeen were the opponents in Doohamlet on Sunday last in the back door clash of the Senior Championship. The Mitchells set the pace with Peter Tuite scoring a point from play inside the first minute. In the twelfth minute the game could have taken a different path as Inniskeen were denied a goal when David Kirk made a crucial save. Inniskeen kept in touch throughout the first half with points from Donal & Paul Meegan leaving the halftime score Inniskeen 0-5 Magheracloone 0-7. A disappointing start to the second half when just three minutes in we lost Ronan Freeman who was shown a black card for a needless foul on young Colm Meegan. Ronan was replaced by the very competent Paudie Mc Mahon who within minutes had his name on the scoresheet. A goal from Allan Kieran midway through the second half put the Mitchells a comfortable nine points up. With just seven minutes remaining Magheracloone were dealt a severe blow when star player Thomas Freeman got a red card. Freeman who has been in sparking form this year had nailed six points before being sent off.
