Corduff Club Notes:

Seniors:

Last Saturday Cremartin brought the curtains down on Corduff’s  Championship dream in Scotstown when they beat Corduff in the quarter final of the McElvaney W & R Intermediate Championship. Corduff dominated the first quarter of the match going 2-05 to 0-2 ahead. However Cremartin dominated the second quarter scoring 1-04 and narrowing the margin to 2-07 to 1-06 at the halftime whistle. With pressure on both sides to get a result Corduff were really tested in the second half. Corduff only scored 2 points  and were held scoreless from the 10th minute as Cremartin got the upper hand and the game turned on it’s head as Cremartin now in the driving seat kept reducing the arrears and going level in the 23rd minute . Extra time seemed on the cards but Cremartin determined to win scored the winning point in added time knocking Corduff out of the championship. Commiserations to the team and management on this defeat. The team was as follows Ben Woods,Colm Lowndes,Ciaran Brennan,Charles Cooney,Padraic Keenan,Declan Larkin,John McEnaney,Christopher McEnaney,Mark McEnaney,Martin Mills,Cathal Connolly,Pauric Gollogy,Philip O’Callaghan,KeithMcEnaney (c) and Brendan McNally. Subs used Gavin McEnaney,Killian Hand,Raymond Byrne and George McKitterick. The focus now switches to the Monaghan Electrical League with Corduff away to Drumhowan this Saturday at 5:30pm.

Ladies:

U14s:

The adventure continues for the Ladies U14 team when after an impressive win over Doohamlet last Thursday they booked their place in the U14 Championship Final. Doohamlet opened the scoring but very quickly Corduff was setting the pace going ahead 0-5 to 0-2. Both teams registered goals but Corduff registered a second one before the interval going in  comfortably ahead 2-09 to 1-03. Doohamlet opened strong after the restart scoring 3 unanswered points and narrowing the margin. But as in the first half the momentum was with Corduff as they had a strong defence and midfield and  were more accurate up front in what was often a crowded goal line. This was another great team performance led by Captain Sadhbh Cassidy and Corduff eased to victory by  the final whistle on a score line of 4-17 to 1-10. The team was as follows Ciara Farrelly, Naoise Cunningham, Shannon Duffy, Lorna Hand, Leona Hill, Abbie Finegan, Sadhbh Cassidy , Georgia Smyth, Leah Cooney, Chloe Finnegan, Abbie McGivney, Elena McEnaney, Annie Brennan, Kayla Hand and Emily Hegarty. Once again congratulations to the team and management Declan Kernan, Pete Cassidy and Dermot Hand. The Final is this weekend and we wish the team and management every success in it and hopefully they’ll get the first silverware of the season! Once again we call on everyone to come out and support the team and management as they all put in a huge effort all season.

Minors:

Corduff were hosts to Killeevan last Sunday in the Minor League. In what was a very one sided affair Corduff dominated play and the scoreboard with the first score coming from the throw-in. Despite good passages of play from Killeevan they found it difficult to convert possession to scores. Corduff on the other hand were very impressive throughout in all positions winning on a score line of 3-10 to 0-4. Congratulations to team and management.

Seniors:

Senior League action continues this weekend with Corduff at home to O’Neills on Saturday @ 5pm.

Congratulations:

Congratulations to all members of the ladies’ and men’s club who received their Junior Cert results last week. That’s another milestone reached!
