It’s expected to be a sell-out with over 30,000 fans there so make sure you are in St. Tiernach’s Park, Clones this Sunday and be the extra man to support and cheer on the lads.  On behalf of everyone from the Rockcorry GAA Club I want to extend our best wishes to all the players and the backroom management team. Good luck lads, do yourselves proud and leave everything out on the field…Come on MONAGHAN.

Annual Golf Classic 2015

Our upcoming golf classic takes place on Saturday 22nd August at the beautiful Clones Golf Club. The club is delighted to announce that Aidan & Marie Murray of Mullinahinch House Private Nursing Home have come on board, once again, as our main sponsors and we sincerely thank them for their generosity, kindness and support. The cost to enter a team is €120.00 and to book your place please contact our chairman Michael Carroll 086-1041165, club secretary Martina McKeown 086-1509735 or Paddy McKeown and a member on the organising committee will be in touch to discuss a convenient time for you to play. There are also exciting opportunities for businesses, families and individuals to advertise by sponsoring a tee or a green for a reasonable €50. If you are unable to play golf but would still like to make a contribution perhaps you would be interested in sponsoring a prize for a raffle. If so please get in touch because we would be delighted to talk to you.

Platinum Tanks Reserve Football League

Our reserve footballers played Drumhowan last Wednesday 8th July, in the Platinum Tanks Reserve Football League Division 2A campaign. Conditions were ideal for football and after a keenly contested encounter the visitors walked away with the spoils. It was a highly exciting game of football and we were unlucky to finish the match with nothing after a spirited comeback to level proceedings at 1-12 to 2-9. However, a power-packed display in the last couple of minutes saw Drumhowan notch over some impressive scores to seal the victory on a final score-line Rockcorry 1-12 Drumhowan 2-12. The next outing for the reserve footballers is on Wednesday 15th July when they travel to play Donaghmoyne at 8pm.

Universal Graphics Junior Football Championship

The next round of the championship has been fixed for Sunday 26th July and our opponents will be our neighbours Aghabog. The venue and throw-in time has yet to be formally agreed.

Go Games

Our under 8 footballers had a busy couple of hours last Saturday morning (11th July), when they travelled to the Oram GAA to take part in another exciting and enjoyable blitz. The future stars of the club showed a lot of determination and loads of enthusiasm in three matches against Oram, Corduff and Doohamlet and displayed their football skills with great commitment and you can really notice the improvement in their confidence, their abilities and their performance as they progress through the various games. The football was of an excellent quality and they made all matches very enjoyable to watch and they never gave up. Well done to everyone involved and a big thank you to all our mentors Anthony Tate and Mossie Brady for looking after the team today. I know it’s not an easy job especially when there was enough players for two teams and with all the kids surrounding you things can become a bit chaotic but the lads did very well and brought a sense of calmness to their surroundings and ensured all kids had equal playing time. Finally, many thanks to the Oram club for hosting the blitz and on behalf of the club I would like to sincerely thank all the parents for their on-going commitment for travelling to the blitz and for supporting all the kids. Keep up the good work.

Gerry’s Prepared Veg Under 16 Championship

The under 16 footballers travelled to Toome last Thursday 9th July but unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances the game did not take place!

I understand that Scotstown has withdrawn from the competition and therefore our quarter-final match against Toome is now a semi-final clash./

Minor Football League Division 3 Shield

Our minor footballers played host to Doohamlet this evening, Tuesday 7th July, in the minor football division 3 league campaign. The game was played in wet and slippery underfoot conditions and while the scoreboard shows a hefty defeat it was a highly exciting encounter with both sides displaying enormous amounts of energy and enthusiasm. We did enjoy a considerable amount of the possession but it was a case of what might have been because, unfortunately, we failed to convert our possession onto the scoreboard. Doohamlet, on the other hand, were a lot more economical with their scoring opportunities and had the ability & firepower up front to convert their chances and they secured the spoils on a final score-line Rockcorry 1-13 Doohamlet 10-14. The game was not without its positives and the lads tried hard and put in a fantastic effort. At times we moved the ball well and took some outstanding scores and while we did create situations to get scores we left some good scoring opportunities behind us and if we can improve on that then who knows…maybe our first win is not too far away! Keep up the good work lads and keep those heads held high. They are back in action in the league campaign on Tuesday 21st July they travel to play Emerald Sarsfields at 7.30pm.

Minor Football Championship Division 3

Our minor footballers will get their first taste of championship action when they take on Emerald Sarsfields this Tuesday 14th July. The game is fixed for Pairc Naomh Mhuire and throw-in time is 7.30pm.
