Best wishes to the Monaghan team and management in the Ulster Final on Sunday and especially to our own Ryan Mc Anespie.

Saturday 18th Jul 2015 Ballybay Pearse Brothers v Emyvale Reserve League Football Division 1B Round 10 Ballybay 5:00 PM

Sympathy: is extended to the Mc Kenna family, Glaslough, on the recent death of Lucy Mc Kenna (nee Askin) Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.

Intermediate League: Emyvale retained their position at the top of the Intermediate League table even though they were beaten by Clones in Clones on Sunday last. Emyvale played the better football in the first half but gave away a sloppy goal at the end of that half and went in at halftime trailing 1:4 – 0:5. Clones had most of the possession in the second and hit a lot of wides but Emyvale still had chances to draw or even win the game but squandered them. It was a lack lustre performance from Emyvale & wasn’t helped with the dismissal of two players through indiscipline. Final score: Clones 1:6 Emyvale 0:8. Emyvale team & scorers: Gerard Mc Caffrey, Mervyn Browne, John Flannery, Aaron Loughran 0:1, Sean Mc Meel, Karl Mc Quaid, Micheal Flood, James Bellew 0:2, David Bellew 0:1,  Conor Bellew,  Garreth Mc Quaid, Paul Mc Carron 0:1,  Daniel Mc Mahon 0:3, James O’Neill, Martin Mc Aree Subs., Colin Hughes, Fintan Mc Kenna.

Handball: Congratulations to Darren Doherty who won the 19 & Under One Wall National Handball Title in Castlebar last weekend.  In the first round he defeated a Tyrone player to qualify for the semi-final where once again he met a player from Tyrone. These games were timed and whoever was ahead after fifteen minutes would win but in this game the scores were tied and it went to a tie breaker and Darren won 5 – 1. He then met Fergal Coghlan, Co. Clare in the final & went ahead 14 – 7 but Fergal fought back to level the scores but Darren forged ahead again to win 17 – 15. Not only did he win a National Title but also secured his place on the Irish Team to travel to Calgary, Canada in August to take part in the World Championships so well done Darren, all your hard work has paid off.
