Senior League

Clontibret 2-11, Scotstown 0-14.

We played out a super win in a star match against Scotstown last week, coming from 5 points down midway through the second half.

Our next game is scheduled for 12^th August when we play Inniskeen at home at 7.30pm.

 

Reserve League

Clontibret 2-7, Latton 2-10. Despite several chances at the end we were unable to reduce the deficit which means that we are now out of the reserve league. Well done to all who played a part throughout the year.

 

Minor Championship

We played St. Pats in the quarter final of the minor championship on Tuesday, result next week.

Next Tuesday we take on the Harps at home at 7.30pm.

 

U16 Championship & League

Clontibret 6-15, Kileevan 5-8. We had a good win over Kileevan last Thursday in a high-scoring affair.

Next Thursday, we are away to Cremartin at 7.30pm.

We play Blayney in the championship semi-final this evening at 7.30pm in Blayney. Best of luck to all the boys.

 

U14 League

Clontibret 4-11, Tyholland 3-11. A good win over against the neighbours secured us two more league points.

On Saturday, 1^st August we play Corduff at home at 12pm.

We are away to Blayney at 12pm on Saturday, 22^nd August.

 

U12

We play Killanny at home on Saturday at 12pm.

 

U10, U8 & U6

Training continues as usual.

 

Camogie

Once again our seniors acquitted themselves admirably in what was a marathon session in Aghagallon last week. On the road from shortly after 6pm, the match itself didn’t get started until 8.45, due to a football match that was supposed to conclude at 7.15!! For many of our girls it was a case of not getting home until almost 10.45pm! Great credit though to them as, not only did they cope with all the hassle they also gave a great exhibition of skill and teamwork and hauled themselves back into a game where they were seriously in arrears at half-time. The final score however – 3-8 to 3-4 – ensures Clontibret are almost certain to secure their first silverware of the season, in the Division 1 Armagh League, a competition never won before by the club. However, no champagne corks will be popped until the last of our opponents have been safely disposed of! On Wednesday Wed 29, Clontibret take on Derrymacash in Clontibret (seniors) and the following evening, Thurs July 30, Clontibret U-16 team host Crossmaglen. Both matches are fixed for 7.30pm.

Congratulations to Chloe McGuigan, Ríoghnach Duffy and Eileen Cullen (Castleblayney), who have been chosen for the Ulster U-16 Camogie Academy, to be held in UU Jordanstown, on August 3 and 4.  This residential, limited to 30 players from around the province, is being facilitated by Niall Jackman Talent ID Officer and aims to work intensely with this elite group, assessing their fitness, skills, mental fitness, nutrition etc and then inputting to ensure improvement in their performance with their club and county. The panel will then meet later in the summer and play a county squad and further assessment will take place. This is a great opportunity for these young camogie enthusiasts and we hope the experience is enjoyable and beneficial.

The news that Mary had her bone marrow transplant on Thursday last was greeted with a mixture of relief and delight by our members, many of whom, along with members of the Monaghan county minor camogie team, attended a Mass for Mary and her family in St Mary’s church on Thursday evening. While obviously Mary’s progress will be slow, thankfully so far, her recovery is progressing well and we will continue to pray for her and her family.

Training for seniors continues on Monday, Wednesday and Friday/Sunday. Players are asked to keep an eye on the club Facebook page and text messages for times. U-10/U-12 training takes place at 5pm each Thursday followed by U-14/U-16 at 6.30pm.  The club welcomes Clíona Carolan to the U-16 squad. Clíona hails from Aghabog and while she claims to be a novice, it’s quite apparent that she has hurled before!! Keep up the good work Clíona!

Best wishes to Ríighnach Duffy who will represent Monaghan, later today, in the U-16 Poc Fada on Hen Mountain (I jest not!) Co Down. This is the first time Monaghan has been represented at this level and we wish her well.

Finally huge congratulations and best wishes to senior player, Donna Moen, who got engaged to her beloved Alan last weekend! Everyone is delighted for you both Donna!
