Super Valu Super Family – (kindly sponsored by Mc Mahon’s Super Valu, Castleblayney ) takes place as part of the family Fun Day on Sunday June 14th It’s a competition of not just simply of physical endurance, but rather a series of more broadly-based tests with a really wide range of skills involved, not least the skill of having fun and being a little foolish.

The competition itself will have six tests for each family: ‘Who or what?’ a recognition quiz with twenty pictures to identify; a special welly throwing test where accuracy and distance are combined; a time trial with sack, wheelbarrow and bike race rolled into one; an assembly job the details of which are still being worked out; a ‘Guess ‘ game where contestants guess or estimate weights, numbers etc.; and finally a water game called ‘A Hole in the Bucket’ which naturally features a bucket or buckets with holes. There is a great mix of skills involved in these games, but it is strongly advised that teams should all be over sixteen to maximise the chances of success.

This competition will take a lot of setting up, so the organisers will need to know in advance how many families will be taking part, therefore there has to be a last day for entries, which is Tuesday the 9th of June.
