U-8’s

U8’s continue to train every Wednesday from 7pm – 8pm. New players are always welcome. The next U8 blitz is the big competitive one!! It takes place in Cloghan on Saturday 13th June from 10am to 12 noon.

U-10’s

Our U10’s attended a blitz and family fun day in Cloghan. There was a great turnout of Magheracloone players and teams from all over the county. The boys and girls were split into two teams. The A team played in the Cup and the B team played in the Shield. The boys and girls never let the bad weather disturb their football skills they held their ground well and played very good football. However the blitz ended early because of the torrential rain and the A team having reached the Cup final didn’t get to play the final. Both team enjoyed three full matches and they can all be proud of themselves, each player contributed to a very good team performance. Thank you to Cloghan for organizing the event and for the use of their facilities, thanks also to the young referees, all our coaches, parents who travelled and to the county players who came to meet our little stars of the future.

Cup Team: Eoghan Farrelly, Joseph Burns, Oisin Byrne, Patrick Doogan Burke, Paul Matthews, Fiachra Murray, Corey Doogan, Adam Mc Keown, Shane Mc Mahon, Aaron Kennedy & Colm Farrelly.

Shield Team: Megan Yorke, Caoimhe Kelly, Emma Hughes, Joe Kellett, Craig White, Sarah Doogan, Adam Mc Connon, Killian Kindlon Smith, Christopher Marron, Kai Duffy & Gareth Gainford.

The next outing for this age group is the Donaghmoyne blitz which will take place on the 25th June from 7pm to 9pm. Training continues as normal every Thursday 7pm to 8pm, it is never too late to join, new members welcome all the time.

U-12’s

With just two matches played our U12’s are sitting in joint third place with Carrick Emmetts, just one point behind joint league leaders Castleblaney & Donaghmoyne so this division one league title is all to play for yet. Training takes place every Tuesday & Thursday 7pm to 8pm. Monaghan Harps are next up in the Division 1 league, this match will be played in Monaghan on 13th June at 2:30pm.

U-14’s

The U14s had a fine victory on Saturday last over Drumhowan. Final score Magheracloone 6-7 Drumhowan 0-7. At this point in the division two league there are clearly two strong contenders – Toome & Magheracloone both on the same point at the top of the table with four matches played each. Training continues every Tuesday & Thursday 7pm – 8pm. The next match is almost four weeks away on Saturday 4th July, this is an away match against Gaeil Triucha with a throw in time of 12 noon.

U-16’s

U16’s are on a break from competition for exams before returning against Killanny on Thursday 2nd July at home. This promises to be a tight match with Magheracloone hoping to knock Killanny off the top spot, they are just one point ahead on the division two league table.

Minors

The Minors remain on a break for exams training continues as normal.

Reserves Championship

The Reserves take centre stage this week when they play Monaghan Harps in the Championship O’Duffy Cup Semi Final. The match will be played on Wednesday 10th June in Monaghan at 8pm. We wish the team and their coaches Barry, Peter & Sean the very best. Please come and support them.

Senior League

The Senior League continued on Wednesday last when the team travelled to take on Clontibret. It was Clontibret who opened the scoring with a goal and a point inside the first six minutes, however the Mitchells worked well and top notch points from Thomas Freeman and Michael Metzger left the halftime score Magheracloone 0-4 Clontibret 1-3. The second half started at a blistering pace with both teams eager to show who was boss, again Clontibret registered the first score but this was answered by young Padraig Mc Mahon who ran the field weaving through the Clontibret players and buried the ball in the back of the net. This exceptional goal surely inspired the team to drive on. Points from Padraig Mc Mahon, James Lambe, Thomas Freeman, James Ward & Allan Mc Cahey put Magheracloone two points ahead with fifteen minutes remaining. Conor Mc Manus appeared on the side-line warming up and was quickly introduced to try and upset the Mitchells lead. It was indeed the great Mc Manus who scored the equaliser, followed by a Dessie Mone special to put Clontibret back in the driving seat by a single point with just 6 minutes remaining. The Mitchell backs stayed firm and began to pile on the pressure, the entire team working the ball back towards the Clontibret goals, with the referee looking at his watch and on the stroke of full time it was James Ward who miraculously managed to score the insurance point earning the Mitchells a well-deserved share of the points on offer. It must be mentioned that Jack Kirk stepped up to the challenge of senior goalkeeper extremely well and pulled off some fine saves throughout the match, well done Jack! Final score Magheracloone 1-11 Clontibret 1-11

With the Monaghan Harps match postponed the next senior league match is currently fixed for Sunday 14th June when we face Latton in a home match at 4pm.
