Under-8

Our U8’s took part in a blitz hosted by Carrickmacross on Saturday morning last. This is part of the overall Go Games fixtures which is run by the Monaghan development committee. The blitz was enjoyed by all. Our thanks to Carrickmacross for hosting the event and compliments to them on its success. The next U8’s blitz will be held in Cloghan and is scheduled for the 13th June from 10am to 12 noon. Training continues for this age group every Wednesday from 7pm to 8pm. All players should have football boots, their own drink and a gum-shield to every training session.

Under-10

The next outing for the U10s is a short trip to Carrickmacross where the Emmett’swill host a blitz for this age group on the 23rd May from 10am to 12 noon. This will be followed by a competitive blitz in Cloghan on 6th June. Under-10 training is held every Thursday on the juvenile pitch from 7pm to 8pm. It is essential to have your own drink and you will not be allowed to train without your gum shield. Best of luck to our U10 players who are currently competing in the community games Gaelic competition.

Under-12

The U12’s having won their Spring League competition now await details of what division they will compete in and their next fixture. In the meantime training continues as normal.

Under-14

After four weeks without a match the U14s took the bus to Emyvale. This encounter was the proverbial game of two halves. With Magheracloone completely bossing the show in the first half and playing some very stylish football they had a five point lead at the end of the first half. However this was short lived when just three minutes into the second half one of our back line got a second yellow for not wearing his gum shield, shortly after this two more of his team mates were also sent to the dugout. It was an impossible task for the Mitchells to win now with only 8 players on the pitch. Emyvale capitalised on this and gained more of the possession and territory. The deficit became too big and was never going to be overturned.

Final Score Magheracloone 1-10 Emyvale 4-15

The next league match is a home game against Toome on 23rd May at 12 noon. Training takes place every Tuesday & Thursday 7pm to 8pm unless told otherwise.

Under-16

The U16 team are currently sitting in joint top of the division two table along with Emyvale. They have an away match against Clones this Thursday 14thMay and the match throw in time is set for 7:15pm. Best of luck lads and mentors.

Minors

Our Minors have now played all their single league matches and what an achievement to be in a comfortable second place on the division one table. Division 1 comprised of nine strong teams playing each other once. After the exam break the nine teams will be split into in two sections. The top five teams will compete in Division 1A and the bottom four teams will play in Division 1B (shield). The teams will then play each other in a single league with the two top teams advancing to the respective finals.

Reserves

The reserves were back in action on Sunday last when they travelled to Scotstown. Final score Magheracloone 1-10 Scotstown 2-15. Their next match is against Cremartin who share the bottom of the table with the Mitchells, this is sure to be an interesting match as both teams will be eager to claw their way up the table. This home game is currently set for 10th June at 8pm.
