Reserve League & Championship

Clontibret 1-12, Latton 1-10. A great battling performance from the boys saw us come away with a narrow victory over Latton last Wednesday.

Clontibret 1-6, Harps 0-11. We bowed out of the reserve championship at the first hurdle last Sunday in a poor game against the Harps. We never really got going and failed to take advantage of the wind in the second half.

On Wednesday, 10th June we are away to Scotstown at 8pm.

Minor League

Clontibret 2-9Scotstown 0-6. We performed very well last week and got a good victory over Scotstown.

We played St. Pat’s on Tuesdayresult next week.

There will be a break for the minors for exams, with the next action being the championship in July.

U16

We travel to Corduff this evening for a 7.15pm throw-in.

Next Thursday we are at home to Blayney at 7.30pm.

Following that there will be a break, with the next u16 game scheduled for July.

U14

Clontibret 5-8, Blayney 3-7. The boys produced a great display to overcome Blayney last week.

Clontibret 6-10, St. Tiarnach’s 4-5. We had a good win away to St. Tiarnach’s last week.

On Saturday week, we take on Seans in the championship at 12pm in Seans.

This Saturday sees our second outing in the Go Games this year. Everyone is to assemble at the Community Centre for 9.15am Saturday morning. Parents are being asked to make themselves available for transportation; this is much appreciated. Throw-in is in Castleblayney at 10am.

Sympathy

The club extends its sympathy to the Kerr family on the death of Kate McGrath, sister of Dympna, former club treasurer. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.

Camogie

Sunday next is a very important date in the lives of 2 of our senior players – Marie and Michelle – who are part of the Ulster Junior Gael Linn panel that takes on Leinster in RathleaguePortlaoise, at 12.45 in the inter-provincial semi-final. The winners then take on the winners of Munster and Connacht at 2.30. Congratulations to both players who committed to training in Derry this past number of weeks in preparation for this event. You are terrific ambassadors for the club, county and the game itself. Hopefully a senior League match (club) against Inniskeen can be deferred to enable some of our club members to travel and support the team.

Our U-12s proudly flew the club flag on Saturday last when they played Derrymacash on Saturday morning last, in Derrymacash. The team had a comfortable win over their opponents and looked very smart in their lovely new t-shirts. Many thanks to Marie, Aisling and the parents who prepared the girls, provided transport and supported them. This Saturday this group will be much closer to home when they participate in the Armagh U-12 Blitz in Derrynoose. This Blitz starts at 11 am sharp and Marie will be in touch with parents regarding travel arrangements.

Derrymacash seniors also experienced defeat by our senior team on Wednesday last. This was a very satisfying win considering the long journey, for many, after a day’s work or studying, and places us at the top of the Division 1 League table. Culloville are our next opponents (Wed 13) after which we have a bye. Training continues each Friday evening at 8pm sharp and it is imperative we have full attendances to maintain our form. Players are asked to ensure they keep a close eye on the club Facebook page for details of forthcoming matches and training.

On Saturday morning a hardy group of litter-pickers, headed up by our Club Chairman, Macartan, participated in the Monaghan County Council Spring-Clean, along the by-pass. In glorious sunshine, this was a very enjoyable and convivial event! Many thanks to all those who participated, Peadar Greenan who provided additional equipment and Monaghan County Council staff, especially Sharon Finnegan, who provided refreshments and equipment.

A reminder that membership/affiliation fees are, in the case of seniors, overdue, and in the case of our under-age players, due at the end of this week. Parents have received the membership/affiliation forms online to facilitate completion of same, and these can be returned to AislingEilish, Marie, Macartan or Geraldine with the appropriate fee.

The Club extends its deepest sympathy to Dympna, Seamus, club members Aidan and Angela, and the Kerr and McGrath families on the death of Dympna’s beloved sister Kate last week. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Dympna at this difficult time.

Congratulations to Nicola who became an ‘Aunty’ last week with the birth of a beautiful baby boy to Eilish andDarren. Best wishes to the new and very proud parents.

And finally, birthday greetings to Ned, who celebrates another significant year on Fri 15!! Only those at training will be invited to the party in Hillcrest!!!! No pressure Ned!!
