Killanny Notes

April 29th, 2015

Juniors League
We had two good wins over the last week with an impressive win over Scotstown on a scoreline of 2g 12p to 1g 9p on Wednesday last and another good win on Sunday away to Blackhill we overcame the locals by the minimum thanks to the trusty boot of Peter Dooley who notched up a score of 1g and 6 points. These two wins brings us back to fourth on the league table and we host Eire Og tonight at 7.30.

UNDER 14: Killanny 10-7 Aughnamullen 2-8 is how our third match in the league campaign ended in Aughnamullen on Monday evening leaving us top of Division 3 . The scoreline is deceptive as  for  about the first ten minutes of the match  both sides were unable to hit the target but Killanny settled into the game and with that the scores came with a number of goals  from Dwayne Markey, Darren Leegan and Kian Duffy and well taken points by Aodhan Mc Connon, Kyle Connolly and David Leegan. Aughnamullen settled better in the second half, were more dominant and got a few good scores but Killanny  rallied and popped over a number of scores to ensure that victory was going to be theirs on the day. Dwyne Markey finished the match as our highest scorer on the day. Mark Lambe had another good match in his new role as goal keeper and he got great help from the whole back line with Ronan Grimes, Jack Guinan ,Tomas Goodman and Oisin Burns who gave a man of the the match performance . Our next match is scheduled for May 9th against Donaghmoyne in Killanny  where we look forward to seeing another good performance from the boys.

Race Night
Horses for our upcoming Race Night on the 22nd May are at present on sale for 10euro a pop. We would encourage and appreciate your local support. All players and officials have the key to the stable door.

Sympathy
At this time our deepest sympathy are extended to the McMahon Family Dunelty on the death of their mother May, wife of the late Patrick Yankee McMahon , a name synonymous with the club both as an outstanding player and a highly respected official. Patrick along with his late brother Seamus were key members of the playing scene in the 40s and 50s. His sons Seamus and the late PJ wore the Geraldines colours with distinction in more recent years. Their daughter Rosemary McDonnell mother of present player and referee Sean, was always staunch in her support for the Killanny cause. May God grant Mays gentle soul eternal rest and happiness. Ar dheis De go raibh a anam dhilis.
