Castleblayney Hurling Notes

April 29th, 2015

Juveniles

Our U8 and U10 teams attended a hurling blitz in Clontibret last Sunday morning. Our young hurlers got plenty of games with teams from Clontibret, Mullaghbawn and Carrickmacross in attendance. The next blitz for this age group is on Wednesday the 13thMay in Cloghan at 7pm. Training continues for our U6, U8 and U10 teams on Wednesday evening in Concra from 6.30 to 7.30pm

Underage teams

Last Monday was a disappointing night for both our U12 and U16 hurling team as Inniskeen were unfortunately unable to field a team at either age group. Both teams’ next outing will be on Monday the 11th May. Details to follow in next week’s notes. Our U14s take on Lisbellaw next Monday evening in Concra at 7.30pm. Pleaase try to get out and support Noel and the lads.

Minors

The minor team travelled to Truagh on Sunday morning last in search of a win that would see them qualify for the semi-finals of the Minor hurling league. Despite brave performances from a number of players the lads unluckily lost out by the narrowest of margins. With one game remaining against Carrickmacross this Friday, a big performance will be needed to progress to the semi finals. The game is fixed for Concra at 7.30pm

Seniors

The senior team also travelled to Truagh last week, taking on their hosts in the second round of the Silver Hill Foods Senior hurling league. A strong performance on the night saw ‘Blayney record a comfortable victory. This Thursday the Reserve team take on Clontibret in the Development Hurling League. The game throws in at 7.30pm in Concra.

Tidy Towns

Castleblayney Tidy Towns committee have organised a litter picking morning for the Castleblayney bypass on Saturday the 9th of May. Assembly point is at Blackhill GFC and we would encourage as many of our members as possible to help out with this community event

Congratulations

Congratulations to the Castleblayney Faughs U14 football team who beat Carrick Emmets in the Championship final last Saturday and in particular to all of the dual players involved. As a result of this victory, the team have qualified to play in the Féile na nÓg competition in Wexford during the summer. Well done to all involved
