Seniors:

Our opening game in the Intermediate football League against Carrickmacross was postponed last weekend due to a bereavement. With Monaghan playing for the next two Sundays we wont have a game for three weeks. Training continues as usual.

Youth affairs

The under 12s got started at the weekend. The two teams were in action with mixed results. The Zone D team went down to a very strong Monaghan Harps side in Monaghan while the Zone G team were much too strong for Ballybay in Ballybay.

The under 14s travel to Doohamlet for a 2pm start on Saturday while the under 16s start their campaign on Thursday 2nd April at 6:30 in Scotshouse.

Minors

Training continues in advance of the first league game on 31st March. All players keep in touch with Niall and Ben fordetails.

Paddy Mc Carney,

Happy 90th birthday to Paddy Mc Carney, one of Currin’s best supporters. Born on St Patrick’s Day 1925 Paddy stills attends all our games both home and away driving himself to all venues. Last Saturday he celebrated in the company of his many friends and relatives, some younger and some older, might I add. In a beautiful tribute paid to him by Fr Mc Kenna at Mass, Fr John spoke of Paddy’s two great leisure time passions, hunting and Currin G.F.C. So it was fitting that hunters from far and wide joined his local family and friends in celebrating his long and active life. Paddy’s contribution to Gaelic games in this area is epitomised by his generosity in sponsoring the Mc Carney Cup. Congratulations and thank you, Paddy.

Bereavements

Currin G.F.C. would like to offer our condolences to the families and friends of Terry McAdam, R.I.P.  Kiltober, Newtownbutler, and Lizzie Lynch, R.I.P. Roslea, who passed away, recently. Both Terry and Lizzie were staunch supporters of Currin G.F.C. always contributing to our various fundraising efforts.  We in Currin G.F.C. would also like to commiserate with Paddy Connolly and his sister Maura, Scotshouse Quarries, a club sponsor, on the death of their aunt Maureen Mc Eneaney, R.I.P. Corduff, who died last weekend. Go ndéana Dia trócaire ar a anam uasal.

Pauline Rhatigan (nee Moore), R.I.P.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death of Pauline Rhatigan (nee Moore), Lanesboro, Longford. last weekend. Pauline comes from a family with a great association with Currin G.F.C. Her brothers all played for Currin and all the family are still great supporters of our club. We in Currin G.F.C. extend our sympathy to her mother Teresa, her large extended family and wide circle of friends. Go ndéana Dia trócaire ar a anam uasal.
