Upcoming Fixtures

Our Senior Mens team start their season away to Truagh on Sunday March 22nd in Truagh at 4pm. The Juniors will face Rockcorry on Saturday 21st  March away at pm. Our B Team get their campaign underway on March 7th away to Latton at 4pm. The minors play their first game also on March 7th away to Sean McDermotts at 2.30pm. The Senior Ladies are due to start in Mid March but this has yet to be confirmed.

 

O’Duffy Cup

The draw for the Reserve O’Duffy Cup has been made. We have home advantage in the Quarter Final facing either Castleblayney or Truagh. Date yet to be decided.

 

Senior Ladies

Senior Ladies training continues Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm, Sundays at 9am in Kilmore. Old and new faces welcome.

 

Ladies Reserve Game

No game took place last weekend. It is fixed for this Saturday at 3pm against neighbours Sean McDermotts at home. Come out and support the girls.

 

U16 Girls

Training will commence this Saturday 28th March at 4pm in the Complex. Bring runners and a bottle of water. Please make an effort to attend Registration night for more info on the coming season.

 

U14 Girls

Our U14 girls are in Feile action this Sunday 1st March. They play a preliminary round v Emyvale at 12pm. If they win this the Semi Final takes place at 4pm v O’Neill Shamrocks. Good Luck to all involved.

 

Juvenile Registration Night

The Juvenile registration night will be held this Friday 27th February in the Complex from 7-9pm. This will cater for all players U16 right down to our academy players at U6. Information letters will be circulated this week for all players / parents through Schools and various team managements. Keep an eye on our Facebook page also where more details will be posted. Please make a big effort to attend

 

Scotstown Academy

Our “Future Blues” Academy start dates have been finalised. U6’s will start Sat 6th March at 10am inside the complex for boys and girls born in 2009 only. U8’s will start 21st March at 11.30am on the main field in Scotstown for boys and girls born 2007 and 2008. U10’s will start March 7th at 1pm on the main field in Scotstown for boys and girls born 2005 and 2006. These details, more info and registration forms will be circulated through the parish schools for all parents.

 

Adult Club Membership

Adult Club Membership can be paid to our club Registrar Frankie McCarey. Non Playing Member €30, Adult Playing Member (Over 18) €30, Minor – €20. We hope to run an Adult Membership night in early March.

 

2015 Sports Prediction Quiz

As you know all know we are running a Sports Prediction Quiz. It consists of 25 sporting events over the course of 2015 with points been allocated after each event. The applicant with the most points will win a top prize of €500. Entries must be returned before this Saturday 28th Feb. Complete online (www.scotstowngaa.ie) or simply pick up an entry form from a committee member. All proceeds go towards club finances. Can anyone who sold any please contact Mark on 086-8937705 to return these with money also.

 

Ciste Draw

The next draw will be this Saturday, February 28th in the Social Club. We have recently added a new feature to the website. You are now able to purchase Ciste online. A payment of €28 is made every 4 months via Paypal. This is an excellent feature now for all Scotstown gaels living abroad to be in with a chance of winning the €700 top prize every month but also supporting our club. Social Club

We are pleased to announce that our Social Club is open for all events. Whether it be a Christening, Party, Communion, Confirmation or any other event we are happy to cater for your needs. We offer packages supplying food and entertainment tailored to your requirements. Irish Classes:

Ciorcal Gaeilge every Tuesday in the meeting room, sports complex between 8.30pm-9.30pm. Fáilte roimh gach duine.

 

Upcoming Coaching Workshops/Courses

Monaghan GAA are running the following courses over the coming months. 1) Foundation Coaching Course – March 6th +7th. 2) Level 1- Child 13th+14th March. 3) Level 1 Adult- 27th+28th Feb + 1st March. Anybody wishing to do these courses please contact David on 087-6202242. Remember you must have the Foundation course done at the very minimum to be involved with a team in 2015. In 2016 you must have a Level 1.

 

Child Protection Courses

There are a number of child protection courses coming up shortly within the county. They will take place on Tuesday 3 March Cloghan 7-10pm and Thursday 26 Feb Cloghan 7-10pm. Anyone wishing to attend please contact Sean on 086-8041759 or email at secretary.scotstown.monaghan@gaa.ie

 

Scór Sinsir

Scotstown had a very successful night at the County Final on Saturday night last with wins in three categories entered. Mollie McKeever was the winner in the Solo Singing section, whilst Paddy Sherlock took the honours in the Recitation. The quiz team of Niall O’Lamhna, Jim Gannon, Seán Corr and Peadar O’Lamhna rounded off the evening by taking the honours in Tráth na gCeist. Mollie and Paddy now go on to the Ulster semi-final in Killeshandra on March 7th, and the Quiz team are now through to the All-Ireland Final in the City West Hotel, Dublin on April 25th.

 

Club Shop

Our Club shop is open again on Fridays in the Complex from 7-8pm. Call down to get all your club team wear for the coming season. We also hope to have our Club Shop up and running online soon so you can purchase our apparel no matter where in the world you are.

 

Sigerson Cup

Well done to Shane Carey who was part of the DCU side that won the Sigerson Cup against UCC on Saturday last at the Mardyke in Cork. Niall Moyna managed the side also. Congratulations to all involved.

 

Sympathy

Votes of sympathy were passed at the February club meeting with the families and friends of the recently deceased including: Rosaleen McPhillips, Gilford; Kieran McAree, Emyvale; Noreen McCrudden Tyndale, Drumcoobrady; Hugo McKenna, Drumbriston ; Kathleen Guiheen (nee McCrudden), England; Margaret Walsh (nee Casey), England.
