Rockcorry Notes

January 7th, 2015

Happy New Year
A New Year has arrived and with it many challenges but hopefully plenty of opportunities and we can all make new and fresh resolutions. The New Year is the perfect occasion to wish your friends and family well and to celebrate friendships and love all the good things in life. It is the time of year to cherish the good memories and forget every bad memory of the past twelve months and start again. Let’s all look forward to a good year ahead and on behalf of the Rockcorry GAA club I wish you and your families a magical, prosperous, healthy and a happy new year filled with new hope, new joy and new beginnings and I hope that all your dreams and aspirations come true.

Team Management
At a committee meeting held in early December, Mickey Morgan was unanimously reappointed as team manager for the upcoming year. Mickey was given the green light to continue in his role as senior team manager and his ratification was strongly supported by the management committee. His backroom team has yet to be finalised and we hope to be in a position to confirm names early in the New Year. For now though, on behalf of the club I look forward to working with Mickey again this year and hope that the season ahead will be more enjoyable and more fruitful on the playing field!

Monaghan Under 21
Well done to the Monaghan under 21 team who defeated Wicklow, last Saturday 3rd January, in the Hastings Cup. The starting team featured our own Fergal McGeough who scored 1-1 and Lorcan Smyth is also a member of the panel. Well done lads it’s a great achievement to wear the county colours and represent your county and all the best in the remaining matches in the competition. Their next outing is on Saturday 10th January when they travel to play Mayo.

Annual Yearbook 2014
I want to thank everyone for their kind comments towards this year’s annual yearbook entitled ‘Our Club…Our Passion’. The response and support is deeply appreciated and if you would like to order one of these special keepsakes then please get in touch. It is jammed with information and features over 580 pages (full colour) and contains some amazing photographs. The first batch of the yearbooks have just arrived from the printers and I’m really pleased with the result. For those of you who ordered a book can you please get in touch with me or alternatively you can arrange to collect same.

Committee Positions Vacant
The management committee is open to all who wish to sit on the committee or indeed any of our sub-committees. New faces, new opinions, new ideas are the lifeblood of any club and with your input the possibilities of today can be achieved tomorrow. At our annual general meeting the positions of Assistant Secretary, Cultural Officer were not filled. We are now looking to co-opt members to fill these important roles. If any club member is interested in taking up any of these roles or perhaps sitting on the management committee please get in touch. The bottom line folks, and its quit simple, the future of the club is in our own hands. Everything that we do today or indeed everything that we don’t do will have a serious impact on the performance of the club in the future. It’s you club, get involved.

Club Membership
Club membership is now due once again and can be paid to our club Registrar Pat Brannigan. The annual subscription for adults is €20 with all juveniles under the age of 18 costing €5 and any student that can provide a valid student card the membership fee is €5.
