Juvenile Championships. Friday evening past the 12th of December saw most of the juvenile county singles championship finals played, we had players in 4 finals on the night, in the U12 girls final Eithne Boyle played Lousie Mc Ginnity from the Harps but lost 15-7, 15-6, Eithne played very well throughout and give a brilliant account of herself in the final, the U13 girls final is still to be played this week between Tara Mc Meel & Aoife Teirney, in the U16 girls final Lauren Treanor lost to Lucy Mc Donald from Emyvale 15-6, 15-10, it was a good outing for Lauren but the bit more experience from Lucy proved the difference, in the U15 boys final Gary Mohan was up against Hubert Sheinbach from the Harps, in the first game Gary was trying to get to grips with the power serving and found the going hard and lost 15-5, but in the 2nd game he settled better and proved a worthy opponent with some nice shots of his own throughout but lost it 15-8, with some basic errors on Gary’s behave is shows that with a bit more practice this certainly would have been a much tighter affair, the U16 final was an all club county final as cousins Ryan & Aaron Mohan battled for the title, the first game was a bit flat as Ryan found it hard getting to grips with Aaron’s killing and passing shots and went down 15-5, the second proved a tighter affair as it was nip & tuck with neither giving much away and Ryan took it 15-12, the 3rd game also proved its’ worth as both players went at it and had some great shots and kills throughout but Aaron began to tire and Ryan powered on to take it and the title 15-8, this was a game worthy of being a final, the U17 final between Gary Mc Kenna(D) & James Mc Cague from Tydavnet was played Tuesday past the 16th but I had no results for the these notes, so good luck to our 3 remaining finalists.
