Meetings: The club’s monthly meetings for October take place in the clubhouse this Thursday; juvenile at 7pm, senior at 8pm.

Seniors: Our senior footballers made it back-to-back league wins at home to Latton last Saturday. Latton outscored us by 0-4 to 0-1 in the first eight minutes, with our only score coming from a Dónal Hahessy free, but well-taken points from play by Gary White and Nicholas Treanor got us going. Evan Doherty hit 2-1 in the space of five minutes and Dónal added a point, before Kevin Loughran then kicked his first senior point. Latton got a goal back, but points from Dónal and Gary sent us in leading by 2-8 to 1-7.Dónal converted a brace of frees, either side of a Niall Greenan point, before the recently-returned Neil McAdam split the uprights at the end of a patient move to keep us narrowly ahead going into the last ten minutes. Substitute Éimhín Morahan then marked his SFL debut with a crucial goal and a point to make the final score 3-13 to 1-14. Our last home game of the year is against Magheracloone this Sunday at 12.30.

Team and scorers: Ashley White; Mustafa Gamal, Kevin Loughran (0-1), John Mulligan; Niall Treanor, Neil McAdam (0-1), Liam Hahessy; Peter Coyle, Nicholas Scott (Capt.); Dónal Hahessy (0-5, 4f), Gary White (0-2), Michael Galligan; Nicholas Treanor (0-1), Evan Doherty (2-1), Niall Greenan (0-1).

Subs: David Hughes for Gamal (40 mins), Dean Fanning for Nicholas Treanor (43), Éimhín Morahan (1-1) for Doherty (53).

U-16: Our Under-16s footballers drew their championship final against Truagh in Emyvale last Saturday. Points from Shane McMahon and Aidan Burns had our lads narrowly ahead in a low-scoring start, before Shane set up Dillon Duffy to clinically finish his first goal in the 15th minute. We failed to score again until the last minute of the half, allowing Truagh to draw level, but Dillon again fired to the net to make it 2-2 to 0-5. Dillon kicked a fine point after the restart, but Truagh hit back with a 1-1 before Jack Deery tapped over a free. Dillon was the width of the crossbar away from completing his hat-trick, but at the other end we were fortunate that Truagh didn’t move ahead until ten minutes from time, when they hit two quick points to lead by two. Our lads dug deep, though, as Cathal Power halved the deficit and Shane converted a free to make the final score 2-6 to 1-9.

Team and scorers: Dylan McAree; Jamie Shields, Cathal Power (0-1), Ultan O’Rourke; Niall Ward, Thomas Croarkin, Niall McManus; Aidan Burns (0-1), Shane McMahon (Capt., 0-2, 1f); Jack Deery (0-1f), Ben Kearns-Flynn, Paul Peppard; Nathan O’Donoghue, Dillon Duffy (2-1), Ethan Murphy.

Sub: James Bourke for O’Donoghue (50 mins).

Ladies: After a great battling display our senior team defeated Silverbridge Harps in the Ulster Intermediate Quarter-Final on Sunday last. The girls led at half-time on a scoreline of 0-8 to 1-3. The second half was a tighter affair with some last gasp tackling and blocking making all the difference as the girls held on for a one-point win (0-13 to 2-6). This was a first Ulster club victory for the club in 13 years so the win was all the more sweet. The club extends its get well wishes to Una Rooney who injured her ankle falling over herself during the game.

Our U16s play Éire Óg in the Division Two League semi-final on Friday, with time yet to be confirmed. Best wishes to the girls.
