Seniors: Our senior footballers return to SFL action on Saturday (October 4) at home to Latton at 5pm.

U-16: Our Under-16s play their rescheduled championship final against Truagh in Emyvale this Saturday at 2.30pm. Best of luck to the team and their management of Michael O’Donoghue, Thomas McCabe, Ciarán Mulligan and Brian Lenehan as they attempt to complete a coveted double. Please support!

U-11: Our Under-11s travelled to Bettystown last Sunday morning to take part in an invitational tournament organised by Co Meath club, St. Colmcilles. We were placed in a difficult group with three teams who ended up in finals and two who gained silverware by the end of the day. After losing our opening game against a very strong Kilmacud Crokes team, we bounced back to defeat Trillick from Tyrone by 2-7 to 1-7 and Clane of Kildare by 0-9 to 0-7 to finish second in our group. We then went into a shield semi-final against St. Eunan’s, Letterkenny, where we produced our best football of the day to claim a convincing 2-11 to 0-4 win. We took on another big Dublin club, Ballyboden St. Enda’s, in the final, where we fell short by four points. Well done to all the players – a good mix of our Under-10s and both of this year’s Under-12 teams – who competed very well in a high-standard and excellently-organised competition, which saw all of our large panel get game-time across our five matches.

Sponsored walk: The year’s Saturday-morning coaching comes to a close with the annual sponsored walk and fun morning at Gavan Duffy Park this Saturday, October 4. Sponsorship cards and orders for club gear must be returned on the morning and everyone is welcome to come along.

Recreational Tournament: Our annual recreational football tournament at Gavan Duffy Park has been set for Sunday, October 26. More details to follow. The team won the shield in Truagh’s tournament last Saturday and training continues on Mondays and Thursdays at 8pm.

Scór: Scór competitions begin with Spraoi Scór on October 17. The Scór na nÓg semi-final is set for November 22.

Garda vetting: Club members who have received their Garda vetting clearance forms are asked to send a photocopy of same to Thomas McCabe.

Poker: The Monaghan Harps Poker Classic is due to take place in the clubhouse on Saturday, October 25.

Hurling: Well done to the minor hurlers, who impressed in the second half of their 2-15 to 1-8 championship semi-final win away to Clontibret last Sunday and are now due to take on Carrickmacross in the final at Clontibret on Saturday week, October 11. Hard luck to the Under-14s, who lost narrowly at home to Truagh on a scoreline of 3-8 to 5-4 in the shield semi-final. Well done to Jim Dalton, Michael O’Donoghue, Thomas McCabe and everyone involved with this team.

Ladies: Training for seniors continues on Tuesday and Friday at 7pm this week in Rooskey.

U-12/U-14 training continues on Thursdays from 6.30-7.30pm and on Saturdays from 10.30-11.30am in Rooskey. Contact Trevor on 086 8716430 for further info.

A massive thank you to all who helped in any way in preparation for our Coffee Morning and Book and Bake Sale on Sunday in St. Joseph’s Pastoral Centre. The food on display was mouthwatering and thanks to those who came and enjoyed the morning all in aid of the club. The day would not have gone to plan were it not for the hard work of the Senior, Minor and U-16 girls especially Dearbhla Lenehan, Dave Mee and all the Mammies. Go raibh míle maith agaibh!

All roads lead to Silverbridge at 2pm this Sunday as the senior team take on Silverbridge Harps in the Ulster Intermediate Quarter-Final. This promises to be a great game and all support is welcome. This is a home game for the Silverbridge team so every bit of vocal support would be majorly appreciated!! **Na Cláirsigh Abú**
