Intermediate football Champions 2014

Our Boys done us proud on Sunday and successfully achieved our target for 2014, which was to get back into senior football.

We defeated our local rivals Donaghmoyne in an enthralling match played in front of a big crowd in excess of 3000 in Clontibret.

The lads got off to the worst start possible by conceding and early goal and a brace of points, however as demonstrated all year they kept their cool and responded with 6 unanswered points either side of half time which firmly got us back on track.

The game remained a very tight affair until the final stages when Donaghmoyne, who where winning by a point had a certain Goal chance, saved on the line by Full back Joe Butler.

We in turn from the rebound went straight down the field and equalized the game.

The match was decided when man of the match Paul Meegan executed a wonder point from the side line with his left foot.

The Grattan men held on and weathered the storm in last few minutes to secure the win and bring the Paddy O’Rourke cup back to the fane side.

On behalf of the Members and committee we would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Alan O Neill and his backroom team of Robbie Ashfield and Owen Keenan.

And of course special mention has to go to the 32 man squad who has shown unbelievable dedication and character this year. You have done us all proud lads.

See main Sports section for full game report.
