Youth Affairs

U-16’s: Our under 16 team, amalgamated with Aghabog as Patrick Emmetts, took on Toome in the league final of Division three on Sunday last in Drumhowan. A close game was expected and that is exactly what happened. In perfect conditions Patrick Emmetts got off to a good start with the first two points but Toome hit back with two goals and a point. Toome added a third goal later in the first half, but Patrick Emmets also hit the net before the break. By half time Toome had built up a healthy lead. Half time score 3-10 to 1-6. This Patrick Emmetts team seems to take deficits like that as a challenge and they responded magnificently in the second half. A couple of goals and a string of fine points brought the lads back to a one point deficit and with the wind in their sails looked like pulling off what looked a very unlikely victory at half time. However, Toome had a little bit in reserve and with all the pressure at the other end, they scored a goal and two point in the dying minutes of injury time to seal a six point win. Final score Toome, 4-16, Patrick Emmett’s, 3-13. In reality it was a lot closer than the six point margin would suggest and the team and mentors deserve the height of praise for their efforts all year. Unfortunately losing two really close finals is hard to take but this team have shown great promise and played every minute with a wonderful sporting attitude. Well done lads. Also thank you to the large crowd that

followed the team to Drumhowan on Sunday. Your support was much appreciated. Under 10’s The under 10’s travel to Rockcorry on Saturday next to particiapte in their annual tournament. As a result there will be no training this Saturday morning. And finally watch out for our representative from the under 12’s in the ‘Parade of Champions’ at the Senior County Final in Clones on Sunday.

Committee meeting

The October meeting will be held on Wednesday 8th October after the Truagh match.
