Monaghan Coaching & Games organised their annual senior 7 a side blitz for Cloghan last night, Monday the 22nd of September. 8 of the schools took part St Macartan’s (3 teams), Inver College (1 team), Castleblayney College (1 team). Ballybay( 1 team), Largy (2 teams), Beech Hill ( 1 team), Colaiste Oiriall (1 team) and  Our Ladys ( 2 teams). Overall there was 12 teams that took part with 130 students playing. Each team consisted of 10 players. The 12 teams were split into 2 groups of 6. There was a round robin format with each team in a group playing each other once over the course of the evening. The two teams that finished top of the group played off in the final.

St Macartans 1 finished top of group 1 and Our Lady’s 1 finished top of Group 2. In an entertaining final Our Lady’s ran out winners by 4 points. It was great to see Our Lady’s coming out on top. There is a lot of good work going on in the school at the minute and this was plain to see on Monday evening with the a highly skillful and dedicated team on show. Paul O’Connor presented the winning captain Barry Kerr with the cup.

We would like to thank all the schools for taking part and the 6 referees (Damien Boylan, Barry Grimley, Jason McAndrew, Martin McMahon, Xavier Coyle and Ciaran Mulligan) for officiating on the night.. We would also like to wish all the schools the best of luck in their respective competitions for the coming season.
