U8’s:

‘Go Games’

We travelled to Tyholland last Saturday for U-8 ‘Go Games’ with a panel of ten players. It was a welcome return for Sean McQuaid to the panel after his holidays. In our first game we played against the number one team from the hosts Emyvale and this produced a close game. Tyholland were our next opponents and as the morning warmed up were soon in flying form. We renewed our friendly rivalry from last week with the Emyvale number two team in the last game of the day and this again produced a tight contest with a high level of skill. The Currin panel on the day were Killian Kierans, Sean McQuaid, Aaron Smith, Nathan Gavan, Michael Connolly, Zach Rooney,

Dearbhla Burns, Sinead Burns, Kevin Duffy and Darrach McGuigan. Rumours are currently circulating of a training camp for the team and coaches in the Lough Erne Resort before the final game of the season. This camp is allegedly being sponsored by McQuaid Auto Parts but as yet this has to be confirmed. When questioned on it Seamus McQuaid stated that it would more likely go ahead in a sunny climate next year. Again a big thanks to the parents who travelled to bring the team.

U- 8 & U-10

Training details will be confirmed later in the week.

U-16’s:

A glorious Saturday morning in Smithborough saw Patrick Emmetts, under 16’s take on neighbours and rivals Clones in the Division 3 Championship decider. The game was level early on with Clones opening up a slight lead with less than 10 minutes to half time. A difficult spell then saw Clones score three unanswered goals before the break and they went in at half time with a commanding lead 4-09 to 0-05. Clones added to their lead early in the second half with a penalty goal and a point, which remarkably were the only scores that Clones notched up in the second half and had seen them establish a nineteen point lead. But then began a remarkable comeback for our gallant side. Patrick Emmett’s took complete control of the game and with great heart and no less skill they scored a string of fine points and four fabulous goals which made for a very tense finish to the game but on this occasion it was not to be. Final Score Patrick Emmetts 4-11 Clones 5-10, a two point defeat. The lads can hold their heads high with such a terrific second half performance and we now have a league semi-final against Castleblayney on Thursday evening at 6pm in Scotshouse. This is a game not to be missed. Again, all support welcome.

All Ireland Final Draw.
