Fixture:

JFL: We are due to play Oram away this weekend. Check official fixture list for date and time.

UP FOR THE MATCH: There was a good lively debate at our ‘Up for the Match’ event last Friday night. Many thanks to Malachy O’Rourke, Terry Hyland, Pauric O’ Boyle, Cathal McAnenley and of course JP Graham who kept the discussion flowing.

British Rally Champions: A huge well done to Arthur Kierans and Daniel McKenna who won the British Rally Championship in the Isle of Man last weekend. Arthur and Daniel are only the third Irishmen ever to win this event and it is a fantastic achievement.

U16 Championship Final Result: Patrick Emmetts 4-11 Clones 5-10

It was a case of so near and yet so far for our U16 lads last Saturday morning in Smithborough. Up against a physically stronger Clones side, our lads found the going tough in the first half and three quick-fire goals for Clones in the run up to half-time appeared to have ended our challenge as we trailed 4-09 to 0-05 at the break. An early penalty for Clones in the second half left them leading 5-10 to 0-06 and seemingly on course for a comfortable victory. Patrick Emmetts had other ideas however and the lads launched a stunning comeback which clearly had Clones on the ropes. The lads threw caution to the wind and drove at the Clones defence resulting in the dismissal on two Clones players in the closing stages for second yellow card offences. Unfortunately the mystery of what warrants a black card and what doesn’t continues with a number of clear cases of players being dragged down with no black card forthcoming. A late goal cut the deficit to two points and had there been another few minutes, a most unlikely of victories was on the cards. Alas time ran out for us. The lads did their club proud however and can certainly hold their heads high.

U16 Semi-Final: Attention now turns to the league Semi-Final TONIGHT where we take on Castleblayney at 6pm in Scotshouse.

FUNDRAISING WEEKEND: There will be a bonanza fundraising weekend in Aghabog GFC clubhouse in aid of Monaghan Cancer Treatment Support on 7th and 8th November. On Friday the 7th there will be a table quiz with a table of 4 for €40. On Saturday 8th there will be a sponsored leg wax, beard and head shave followed by a monster auction!!
