Truagh Notes

Well Done:to our U-12 hurlers who won the shield final last week against Monaghan Harps, 6-4. Our squad were: Daniel Boyle, Ronan Boyle, Cain Maguire, Karl Mc meel, Matthew Mc kenna, Mark Cassidy, Padraig treanor, Noah Mc meel.John treanor, Cameron mc meel, Aaron Cassidy, Oran Maguire, oisin Hagan, Aaron treanor, Darryl Daly. Captain Cian Maguire received the cup as club captain.

Final Action:This Saturday evening in Oram, our reserve C team play Killanny at 7pm in the McKeown Cup championship final. Support the lads.

Entertainment & Cycle Fundraiser: On Saturday 23rd August, from their TV appearance it’s the Murphys in St. Mellans. This is being orgainsed in aid of Sosad (Suicide Awareness Organisation). Francis McKenna is currently cycling on behalf of sosad in the ‘bottom to top non-stop’ national cycle.  On Sunday 24th, a Tour of Truagh cycle is taking place, with a 40km and 100km circuit the options for cyclists. The cycle starts at 9am with registration from 8am. Get on your saddle!

Seniors:We were due to play at home to Clontibret in on Wednesday last in the SFL. We play Scotstown next Sunday, August 17th,  at 12.30pm in St. Mellans. We play Currin in round 1B of the SFC on the weekend 24TH August.

Reserves C: We lost away to Toome in the last league game last Wednesday, 4-11 to 3-15. Regardless of the result we advance to the semi-finals of the competition where we are to play at home to Killanny. Fixture TBC. We play int he championship final this Saturday against Killanny in Oram at 7pm. All support appreciated.

Minors: We were due to play Clontiibret in Emyvale in the minor championship division 2 semi-final last Tuesday. Next Tuesday, 19th August, we play in the league semi-final, where we play at home to Cremartin at 6.45pm. .

Recreational Tournament: Well done to all who played in the Scotstown recreational tournament last Friday evening, where we overcame Oram to win the shield competition. We have been invited to play in the Eire Og tournament this Sunday. It is to be played in Kilmore, Scostown at 4pm.

U-16:We won our U-16 championship match away to Clontibret last week, 1-16 to 0-11. We play away in the U-16 league against St. Patricks in Drumhowewan on Thursday 21st August at 7.15pm.

U-14:Our next match is at away to Scotstown on Wednesday20th August at 7.30pm.

U-12: We lost away to Killanny in the division 1B cup semi-final 1-9 to 1-10. Hard luck lads. Well done to all our U-12s who played at half time of the recent Monaghan Kildare match in Croke Park. A day to forever remember for all the players who took part.

U-10: Training each Thursday evening between 7-8pm.

U-6 & 8s: Training each Thursday evening between 7-8pm. All welcome.

***Lotto Jackpot now €9,000***: There was no winner of last week jackpot prize of €8,900. The numbers drawn last week were: 19, 21, 23, 24. Club Shop/DVDs: The double DVD boxset of our All Ireland win is now available to purchase. Priced at €20, it includes the full All Ireland final as well as highlights of the matchesenroute to Croke Park. The DVD also carries interviews with players and supporters as well as footage from the homecoming. The DVDs were excellently produced by Lavery Photo and Video and is an essential item in every supporter’s DVD collection. The boxset can be purchased in the club shop. Club merchandise orders can be made to Eilish on 0877857680. The shop is open each Thursday between 7-8pm. Club shoulder hold all bags are now available to purchase at €15,

Hurling:
Seniors– We received a walk over Inniskeen last Monday as the opposition conceded. We play away to Castelblayney in St. Marys ark this Thursday at 7.30pm.

U-14: We play away to Castleblayney on 18th August at 7.15pm.Training each Friday 7-8pm. All welcome.

 

U-12: We were due to play Monaghan Harps in the shield final yesterday, Wednesday. Check twitter for details.

 

Ladies:

U10/12 : Training Saturday 11.30 & Tuesday at 6.30pm in St Mellans
U14/U16: Our U14 girls continue their championship campaign when they play at home to Carrickmacross on Monday evening next 18th August at 7pm. All support very welcome.

Wishing the best of luck to Lynda Mc Meel and the rest of the Monaghan U16 ladies team along with their team management when they play Tipperary in the All Ireland B semi final this weekend.

Training for all U14/U16 girls continue on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7pm to 8pm.

Minor/Seniors:Training continues Friday & Tuesday 7.45pm. With our reserve final scheduled (but yet to be confirmed) for Wednesday 20th August we encourage everyone to make a effort to attend training.
