Seniors: The SFL is due to resume with an away game against Ballybay next Wednesday.

Reserves: Our McKeown Cup title defence ended with a semi-final defeat at home to Truagh last Friday evening. After a slow start, points by Éimhín Morahan and Niall Greenan brought us back into contention and although Truagh struck the game’s opening goal, Éimhín and Niall kept us in touch and we were within touching distance at 1-7 to 0-5 at half-time. A red card early in the second half hurt our chances, however, and although Brendan McQuaid came off the bench to hit 1-1, Truagh pulled away to win by 3-13 to 1-7. Thanks to everyone who helped out and played for the McKeown Cup team this year.

Team and scorers: Ronan McGann; Aidan Connell, Niall Treanor; Turlough Clerkin, John Mulligan, Ahmed Gamal; Lorcan McAdam, Dónal McCarthy; Paul Byrnes, Niall Greenan (Capt., 0-3, 2f) Francis Lynch; Éimhín Morahan (0-2), Conor McCaughey (0-1f).

Subs: James McKenna for McAdam (11 mins), Brendan McQuaid (1-1) for Byrnes (38), Paul Smyth for Gamal (inj., 46), Lorcan McAdam for McCarthy (47), Dessie McGarry for Lynch (50), Darragh Hannon for McCaughey (57).

Minors: Our minors lost away to Killanny in the league last Tuesday. Éimhín Morahan, John Mulligan, Reece Treanor and Kevin Lyden were all on target as we raced into a seven-point lead, but the game quickly turned on its head and we went in trailing by 1-7 to 0-8. A string of points from Éimhín and one from substitute Remy McKenna led a spirited second-half effort and we were just a point down late on, but Killanny finished stronger to win by 1-16 to 0-15.

Team and scorers: Darragh Hannon; Daniel Kelly, Darragh Treanor, Tiarnán Bramley; Marc Brennan, Mustafa Gamal (Capt.), David Lowry; James McKenna, Dylan McKenna; Kevin Lyden (0-1), Éimhín Morahan (0-10, 7f), Kyle O’Leary; Reece Treanor (0-1), Ciarán McQuaid, John Mulligan (0-2).

Subs: Remy McKenna (0-1) for R Treanor (inj., 24 mins), Ruairí Forde for McQuaid (inj., H-T), Evan Cudden for Brennan (49), Thomas Bourke for Lyden (55).

We host Carrickmacross this evening (Tuesday).

U-16: Our Under-16 footballers lost at home to Truagh in the league last Thursday. Shane McMahon converted a penalty before half-time to keep our lads in touch, but a Soky John point was all they could manage in a third quarter in which Truagh opened up a healthy lead. Cathal Power got forward to score a great goal and Conor McCrystal also came off the bench to find the net, but our lads ran out of time, losing by 2-12 to 3-5. The U-16s start their championship campaign with a home quarter-final against St. Patrick’s this Thursday. All support welcome.

Team: Dylan McAree; Seán McKenna, Cathal Power, Thomas Croarkin; Niall Ward, Jamie Shields, Ultan O’Rourke; Shane McMahon, Remy McKenna; Soky John, Ethan Murphy, Niall McManus; Nathan O’Donoghue, Ben Kearns-Flynn, Conor Duffy.

Subs used: Dylan Duffy, Anthony Greenan, Conor McCrystal.

Hurling: Our Under-16 hurlers are through to the league final after an exciting replay win at home to Carrickmacross on Monday evening. After changing ends level at 0-8 to 1-5, the Harps moved ahead with a brilliant goal from Aidan Burns and some fine point-taking from Cathal Power and Mark Murphy. Some strong defending in the closing minutes secured a 1-13 to 1-9 win. No details of the final were available at time of going to press.
