Minor Championship. The semi-final of the Division One championship between Magheracloone and Scotstown was played on Tuesday in Cremartin. The Scotstown team had the advantage of the wind in the first half and led at half-time by four points, with the score reading 1-7 to Magheracloone’s 0-6.

Magheracloone opened the second half in a lively fashion and cut the deficit to a single point before Scotstown claimed two more points from placed balls. Magheracloone continued to press and eventually drew level with a few minutes left for play. In the final minute of normal time Luke McKenna ran from the corner back position to find himself at the end of a sequence of excellent passes from the Magheracloone team. He rounded the last two Scotstown defenders and picked his spot in the bottom left corner of the net. This proved to be the final and decisive score of this exciting encounter. The final score read Magheracloone 1-13 to Scotstown’s 1-10.

Magheracloone will have a gap of almost two months before the county final in Clones. The opposition will be provided by near neighbours, Donaghmoyne and an exciting encounter is guaranteed.
