Youth Affairs

Under 10’s:

Training continues for under 6s, under 8s and under 10s on Saturday morning at 9:30.

Under 12s

The Division 1B Finn Rua (Currin/ Clones) team travel to Scotstown for the Shield final on Tuesday next 12th August..

The Division 3B side took on Emyvale on Tuesday last in Scotshouse and had a great win on a scoreline of 5-7 to 3-3. We now advance to the finals and play Monaghan Harps on Saturday at 11.00 a.m. in Monaghan.

U-16’s:

The lads took on Castleblaney in a critical game on Thursday evening in ‘Blaney which was their penultimate league game. After a great game we went down on a scoreline of Castleblayney 6-14, Patrick Emmets 4-10. On Thursday we take on Toome in the championship quarter final in Scotshouse at 7.30 p.m.

Jason Mc Kiernan

We would like to wish Jason a speedy recovery from a serious hand injury. Jason, through hard work and dedication has become a stalwart of his team and will be sorely missed. I’m sure it’s no consolation that it’s his left hand and that when he returns to school his studies won’t be compromised.

Minors:

Our minors went down to Latton in the league. Scoreline, Patrick Emmets, 0-18, Latton, 3-20. Next game is against Aughnamullen on Tuesday next 12th away at 7.15 p.m.

Inter county:

Monaghan men returned to Croke Park last Saturday night and faced Kildare in the qualifiers. Played in atrocious conditions, Monaghan came through in extra time. They now meet Dublin next Saturday. It is every serious sportsman’s goal to compete at the highest level and to pit himself against the very best in his field. Next Saturday will be seen as a just this for these players and should be taken as an opportunity to perform to their optimum. I have no doubt that if they play like they can then a few eyebrows could be raised on Saturday night. Once again we send best wishes to Dick and Jack.

N.B. Don’t forget about the ‘clamping’ around Croke Park on Saturdays, a few were caught last week.

Monaghan Ladies

Monaghan will meet Tyrone in the quarter final also on Saturday. Best of luck to Ellen and Laura. With a bit of luck the semi-finals won’t clash.
