Senior Football:
We play in the Drumlin Group of Credit Unions Senior football league on Sunday next, 13th July, against Monaghan Harps in Scotshouse. This is a ‘Star’ game so a team performance like the last one will be needed to continue the momentum. We played Lisnaskea in the Connolly Cup on Saturday last and although losing we acquitted ourselves well.
Reserve Football:
The reserve team played last night in Clontibret and depending on the result they could be in the top four.
Youth Affairs
Under 8’s and U 10’s:
We hosted the U-8 ‘Go Games’ last Saturday, with six visiting clubs taking part, Aghabog, Eire Og, Killeevan, Clones, Scotstown and Tyholland. With some clubs bringing more than one team, we had nine teams, including Currin, playing games each across four pitches in sunny Scotshouse. With great skills on display the games were a great success providing plenty of entertainment for players and supporters.
The Currin stars of the future on the day were Grace Steed, Killian Kierans, Darrach Mc Guigan, Conor Murphy, Kevin Duffy, Sean Mc Quaid, Aaron Smith, Ryan Smith and Caolan Connolly Smith.
Thanks to all our neighbouring and visiting clubs and those who helped out on the morning. Training continues as usual.
U 12’s: Finn Rua had two good wins over Scotstown in the league on Saturday last. The division three side had a more comprehensive victory than the division one side who were pushed all the way by the visitors. A stunning left footed strike into the top corner by Jack Mc Quaid late on in the game stemmed the tide and turned out to be the turning point of a great game. Well done to all concerned.
U 16’s:
Patrick Emmets play Doohamlet tonight. Throw in at 7.30 p.m.
County football
Mixed fortunes for our club players on Sunday last with the Ladies losing out on the ‘five in a row’ Ulster titles. Hard luck to Ellen and Laura. ‘Five in a row’ is very difficult, even Garth is having a serious problem. Monaghan now go into the back door and can still have their sights on the big prize, in Croke Park..
No such problems for Monaghan men who emphatically accounted for Armagh to reach another Ulster final. Well done to Dick and Jack.
Tickets can be got through Patricia, Secretary, in the usual way, but MUST be ordered before 5 o clock this evening Thursday 10th July.

Michael Quigley
Best wishes and a speedy recovery to Michael Quigley who underwent knee surgery last weekend. This was Michael’s second major operation in a relatively short space of time but no doubt with the resolve he has shown in the past he will be back soon in the blue and gold. We wish him well.
Fr Edwin Mc Callion
Currin G.F.C. encourages all its members to join in the celebration of the silver jubilee Mass for Fr Edwin on next Sunday 13th July at 10 a.m. in Scotshouse. Edwin, son of ‘Nellie’ (nee Mc Cabe), spent most of his summers in Cavany until he was ordained to the Marist order 25 years ago. A frequent visitor he is a great supporter of both Currin and Monaghan and he has really enjoyed the success of club and county in recent years. Light refreshments will be served after mass in the Community centre.
James Matthews, Scotshouse and Louth village. R.I.P.
It was with great sadness that we in Currin G.F.C. learned of the death of James Matthews, father of Geraldine Clerkin, Scotshouse. We extend our sympathy to Geraldine, her husband Frankie, her brother Thomas, grandchildren Seamus, Frank, Catherine, Eileen and Colm, who are all valued members and supporters of our club. We also express our condolenses to all the extended family members and friends. Go ndéana Dia trócaire ar a anam uasal.
